I am a math teacher, and I need a pencil sharpener in my room. Ruiya electric sharpener is amazing and I love the ability to change the dial on the sharpener so I can make sure the pencils do not get too sharp when the students use them. I would give them 5 stars, but it stopped working after 3 months randomly. The reason they get 4 stars is because they are honoring their lifetime warranty and sending me a replacement free of charge. They are not forcing me to return the sharpener and answered my email within 4 hours. They were kind, prompt, and care about their product. My old electric pencil sharpener died on me just when I needed to sharpen 24 pencils for Christmas boxes. Purchased two locally; neither produced an evenly sharpened point. I found this one on Amazon and decided to give it a try. Love it. Points are consistent and can be done three ways. When the pencil is finished the sharpener stops; no more checking once or twice to see if a good point has been achieved. As the instructions indicate, a few wood shavings are left on the pencil, but these can be quickly eliminated by turning the pencil slightly in the opposite direction. Like being able to operate on battery power or house current.

I've had the sharpener for a while now and it has worked well for us. I really like that the sharpener stops once it reaches one of the tips that you set. That feature really help in keeping my from playing with the sharpener over and over like an old one I had. The bin for the shards to go in can be difficult to get out and if you fill it all the way they will spill all over. That was a lesson learned but as long as you empty when it's half way your fine and no mess I have to clean.

This Ruiya sharpener is the second one I purchased--it worked so well as a gift for a student relative that I gifted myself one. It's most outstanding feature is it's capability of adjusting the sharpening level of the pencil tip--more blunt, sharp or extra-sharp. However, it's also extremely easy to empty and conveniently uses batteries or wall charging. It has built-in safety for youngsters and won't operate without the clear cover in place. What I like second-best is its compact size, ideal for either desktop or drawer, and it's beautifully rounded, stylish design--I keep it on my desktop because I'm always sharpening sketching and watercolor pencils and it's unobtrusive. Finally, I can also say that it's extremely well constructed. I would give the Ruiya 6 stars except I'm only allowed 5. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone for home or work. Thanks for asking.

I needed a battery sharpener for my craft table that was pretty durable and not hard on batteries. This one works great. I had to return one to Staples that literally fell apart out of the box, so concerned about buying one online. But the size is perfect and so far I am still on the first set of batteries after many months of use. I also like the adjustability of the point on this one. I can get the perfect point without grinding away my pencil.
