Gave me more information than I expected!

I had always been curious if my Nozdormu had Ragdoll in him based off of nothing more than how he happily melts when he's picked up, but that on its own it was never important enough for me to pay for a test. I finally caved when this went on sale because it said it ran for health markers, and boy it wasn't lying!
It came back with all the details on if he has the gene for them at all, right down to if he just passively carries it. It even tells me what to look out for with his teeth heslth and goes into the trait genes he has to explain his coloring. The picture I uploaded is just the front page, but there's about another 70 pages to help detail everything.
The page count might sound daunting, but it's organized super clearly and is made very easy to digest!
Overall I'm thrilled with how it worked and the results! I will say that I'm lucky my goofy baby is as laid back as he is to let me use the cheek swab, so if you have surly cats keep that in mind.
Of course--cat tax included! 😊

This product arrived quickly and in great shape. The packaging made it easy to use and then seal up to return, and the test itself had clearly written directions. We're looking forward to our results!
Some people here don't science.

Several reviews criticized how long it takes for the results to come back. I'm curious: how long to people assume DNA sequencing and analysis should take? It can take years for human DNA sequencing to be completed, depending on how busy the lab is and how good the sample provided is. It took seven weeks for me to receive the results, which is more than reasonable.
The swab itself is incredibly easy to use - simply stick it in your cat's mouth, move around a bit, put it in the provided tube, shake around, and ship it off in the box provided. The company was very good at keeping me up to date. They let me know when they received the sample, when it arrived at their labs, when it was finished sequencing, and when analysis was completed.
In terms of accuracy: you people need to understand that DNA sequencing is not cut-and-dry. A real person analyzes DNA samples, be it for a cat or for a human, so some of it is subjective (for both cat and human). The larger the DNA pool is, the more accurate the results will be. I had suspicions in terms of what breed/s my cat was, and this confirmed it. I mostly got it for the health markers, which were extensive and very detailed. Overall, if you're curious about your cat's breed and health, this DNA kit is as good as it gets.

Breed reports need to be improved.

So I got this cat DNA kit; because Basepaws finally added Health markers, this year. The health reports were straight forward and mostly easy to understand.
The Breed reports were more vague; and I had to watch some videos, and a hard to find new Basepaws help article.
From how I understand it, Basepaws currently believes my cat has...
39.5% Western DNA; and shares DNA with all 7 breeds in that group. The American Shorthair was assigned top spot, because dominant genes or physical looks-wise my cat got his tabby stripes from this breed.
He has 17.01% Eastern DNA; and shares DNA with all four breeds in that group.
He seems to have the American Burmese's small skull and short nose muzzle. The American Burmese is short legged, and the European Burmese is long legged. My cat has short front legs and tall back hind legs.
He has 7.77% Exotic DNA; and shares DNA with all 3 breeds in that group. The Egyptian Mau has short front legs and tall back hind legs. The Egyptian Mau is the fastest domestic cat; and wiggle vibrates it's tail to mark it's territory.
He has 12% Persian DNA; and shares DNA with all 4 breeds in that group. The Exotic Shorthair comes in a wide range of colors; has shaggy short fur; and holds it's tail low to the ground, most of the time.
In short, these top four breeds are where my cat gets all his physical traits. So I think Basepaws's breed analysis is good, but could be presented better and clearer.
I would like Basepaws to add a traits list, so I don't have to do the research on any future cats I might get. Cat blood type would be nice. Sibling and parent relationships as well.
The Polycat DNA is unknown DNA, that might be whittled down in a couple years.

The test results are fantastic. The amount of information provided can be overwhelming (69 pages) but very welcomed.
