SIZING:
Ok, let us start with my measurements, just so you know whether the sizing is applicable to you or not. I am just short of 5'10", 180 lbs, 36" waist, 41" chest, 33/34" arms, 15 1/2" neck, and I can fit in many medium sized shirts, but normally were a loose large. I purchased an XXL and it fits like my Large Nautica Robe (photos included.)
MATERIAL:
Now that we have that all out of the way, if you have ever slept on a satin sheet, then this is what you are about to purchase (in the shape of a robe.) The thickness, feel, and breathability is exactly that; a satin sheet. The only places where it is twice the thickness are the edges, where the material has been folded over 2-2 1/2" and sewn together. I purchased this robe for it's lightweight material, as I have recently moved south and terry cloth is not conducive to any temperature over 70°. You may still sweat in the satin if you wear it outside on a hot day, and whereas satin is notorious for absorbing odors, you will want to wash it as soon as possible. Again, delicate cycle, cold water, alone, dry on a hanger.
COLORING:
The shawl collar, sleeve cuffs, and pocket tops are all solid black satin (the same color as the body of the robe.) The light catches it and it has a satiny shine. The scroll work is as follows: Base= washed out, very light gold mixed with a satiny sand color. Outer Scroll = if the base color got wet, this would be an accurate description of this second color (it is a darker gold, mixed with a wet sand color.) Inner Scroll = burnt orange/brown, like a saddle color. All the scroll work has the same satin shimmer as the black.
BELT:
The belt sits me MUCH higher than a normal robe would. It hits me at the bottom of my rib cage, where my Nautica Robe belt falls exactly where I would wear a normal belt and pant; just slightly below the waist. The feeling of the belt this high will take some getting use to. The biggest problem with the belt is robe closure. Obviously the satin is much slipperier than terry cloth robes; the satin naturally wants to slip and fall downward. With the belt being so high, all the material of the robe below the belt has no retention system to keep it from sliding open. As you walk, you will feel the front of the robe (bottom up to the level of the belt) get caught by the wind, motion and gravity, and as such, naturally starts to slide open. This could have been counteracted by the belt being 6" lower (but then the chest area would have slid open.) There are two small ties inside of the robe to aid with closure, but seeing how they are at the same height as the belt, they aid very little. Lastly, the belt is about half as wide as a normal robe belt, and about 10" shorter (refer to the photo of the knot in my belt.) The belt will not stay tied with a simple knot, you must put a bow in it (due to the satiny material.) I have just barely enough belt to tie it, then tie a bow in it.
DURABILITY:
I have ready reviews about the fragility of the robe straight out of the package. I can say that was not the case with the robe that I received. There was no straggling thread are frayed seams. In fact, I washed the robe before wearing it; delicate cycle, cold water, with no other garments, then hung it in a room with the ceiling fan on; it was dry 30 minutes later. Most importantly, there was not damage.
SURVEY SAYS:
The true test of any purchase is whether or not you would purchase it again; and the answer to that is resoundingly YES! Despite the few drawbacks listed above, I would say that it is a $24 gamble worth taking. Again, there are anomalies and exceptions to any rule, but if you are conscious of the size that you order, then you should be more than pleased with your purchase.

Beautiful, but small!

Looks great and a very luxurious fabric. Comes off as very rich and suave, not to mention sexy. But even though I bought the larger size, at just over 6 feet, this was just sized poorly. Belt was way up too far.
I would highly recommend this four guys that are 5 foot nine or shorter, and buy one size up for comfort.

Fit my friend who is 5'8" and on the larger side.

It took some time to find one that would fit my friend. He's average height but got a bit of a tummy, so I wanted to find one that he could wrap around himself and be able to tie it closed. He's a 42 waist size if that helps. I'm not sure how much he weighs but this held up and he was very happy with it.
Feels great and is holding up well.
