I was replacing the older copper water line to the frig with poly.
I have not used it yet because I heard that I needed to add the metal insert inside the tubing to prevent it from collapsing. Now that I look at other packages I see that some come with this insert. I now assume the part I ordered was for copper line only?

I just got a new refrigerator and needed to hook up the water line to connect to the ice maker. I have a copper line running from the main water valve and needed a coupler to connect the copper end to the flex hose that came with the ice maker. The installers wouldn't touch it so I had to do it myself. I ordered this 1/4 x 1/4 coupler and it was the perfect size for your standard ice maker line. connected the copper line with compression ring on one end and the flex hose nut on the other with some thread seal tape and it was as easy as that. I now have ice in my ice maker and didn't have to call the plumber!
