We have bought two pair of the short grinders by this company and have used them several times a day. My one complaint is that the plastic that holds the ceramic gear breaks after extended use. However, given the cost of the items and the amount of use we give them, this is not a problem as is evident that we've bought two pair and now have bought the tall set. I would still reccomend these even given the plastic part becasue if it were metal (1) the cost would be much more and (2) the salt would still eat away at it.
