I ordered this set of training wheels for my 9yo son's 20" Huffy mountain bike with multiple speeds. (Yes, he's late to the bike game and tends to be over cautious and hesitant to try new things, so this is our compromise to get him to even give the bicycle a chance.) The listing specifically mentions that it's for bikes with multiple gears, so I don't know if the fit will be as good for a single speed bike.

Installation was smooth using the included parts and instructions without any modifications, and the metal brackets feel very thick and sturdy compared to the training wheels that came with my younger son's 16" bike. The wheels are holding up well so far after a week of daily use.

I'll update this review after a few more weeks if anything changes, but so far I'm very pleased with these training wheels.

My wife bought a (barely) used bike from a friend. I didn't know until after she got it home, that it has gears so the training wheels that I had bought in advance won't work.

So I bought these. They're perfect! They are sturdy, made of good materials (best that I can tell) and the minor adjustments that I can make for the "height" of the training wheel - allowing me to make the training wheels closer to the ground or a bit higher to help allow my daughter to work on her balance - is great. Right now, I have the wheels all the way to the ground so she can gain confidence. The previous bike she had with traditional training wheels, she was afraid of because it was a little unstable when she turned sharply. It felt like it was going to flip over. The most I could get her to stay on that bike was less than five minutes.

I put these training wheels on her 20" bike and I had to beg for her to take a break to eat lunch. She stayed on it for about 45 minutes and didn't want to come off. Never saw her smile so much.

So would I recommend these? Yes, absolutely!

Needed training wheels for a 20" mountain bike and ordered these. I must say, they are built sturdy.
Obviously, since not all bikes are made the same, there were some minor quirks installing it, but nothing I couldn't overcome.
If you`re need of training wheels for a larger MTB these will do the trick!

It is hard finding training wheels that work on multiple gear bikes! I found these and tried them out for my 10 year old Son who is a late bloomer in terms of bike riding. These fit and went around the gears without impacting their use and they were sturdy/wide enought to support the riding on an 18" bike. These training wheels are angled appropriately to make them wide enought and they come with wheel stud spaces to push things out even further if necessary. All in all - this is a nice kit and should give you everything you need to add training wheels to larger and multi-geared bikes.

I am not going to tell you what that I had to use to make these outriggers work on a Huffy bicycle, so it's not an "Easy to install (3 Star Rating)" for all. (I don't want Amazon to censor a decent, honest review), but, I will tell you that you can see what I did for our stout Autistic Grandson (maybe his conditions were Amazon's first "Community Standards" Problem .).
I will tell you is that I had to gather other parts and modify these STRONG, "Sturdiness (4 Star Rating)" outriggers. I had to forget that single stand-off adapter nut-bolt. I had to upgrade the wheels "Sturdiness (4 Star Rating)" and their axle bolts and nuts to accommodate our husky, but other-wise "Enabled" Grandson to ride with confidence, due the item's "Stability (5 Star Rating)", especially after the modifications.
~ Now, Amazon wants to know what I liked about these? The CRUCIAL parts, the outriggers, are very strong.
~ Amazon wants to know what I didn't like about these? I had to re-engineer the secondary parts for a readily available bicycle.
