Fun bright light

This review is for: (Roleadro Led Pool Lights, Waterproof IP68 47W RGB Swimming Pool Light Multi Color, 12V AC Led Inground Pool Light Control with Remote Controller 6ft)
I bought this light to replace a halogen flush mount that was probably 20 years old. I was concerned on whether this light would be as bright as my 300w Halogen was, last night after installation, I'm happy to report that it was just as bright, and lit up the pool nicely (20x40 in-ground with a 8' deep end, which is where the light was mounted).
My second concern was the remote. What happens if I lose it? No worries, if you flip the switch on and off it will cycle through colors and modes. Which is really what I wanted anyway. How does the remote work? I dunno, haven't put a battery in it yet.
The light has many different modes. You can have it set to a particular color, or it can be set to change colors in different ways. Our current favorite is a slow fade from one color to the next.
The light seems to be well built for today's standards. I have no concerns on it holding up and performing well.

The install was easy cause it was a replacement. My old light was about an inch bigger that this light, so I couldn't reuse the mounting bracket and had to use the one that came with the light. The mounting holes lined up perfectly so that was great. The supplied power cord for this light is only 6ft long, I really wish there was an option for longer cords in the purchasing options. So I made a trip to Lowe's bought some power cord, crimp on connectors, shrink tubing, good electrical tape and a bottle of liquid electrical tape. Staggered my connections so that it would still fit conduit. Liquid taped the connections, then shrink tubed over them, then liquid taped again, then electrical tape, then 3 or 4 layers of liquid tape again. .....I think I'm safe.... :)

I bought the (CNBRIGHTER Waterproof 12V AC Transformer 5A 60W,110V-120V AC to 12V AC LED Power Supply, Voltage Converter LED Driver,Adapter for Outdoor Landscape Lighting/Swimming Pool Light (60 Watts)) to power this light. It seems to be doing the job well.

Pro's: I really feel this light is a great value for the price. I've always thought pool lights were grossly overpriced ($350 for a light....come on!) So I was really happy with the price of this unit and what it offers. If something happens to it, I'll report back.

Con: For me it was having to extend the power cord. Would have preferred to buy an option with a longer cord than to spend that money on supplies to be able to extend it. Also install instructions for this thing are somewhat non-existent because they are so vague. Luckily for me I have an electrician friend that I could ask a few questions of. And the seller did get back to me concerning which wire was which. Just would have been handier to have it on an instruction sheet.

(my power cord was a red wire (positive), blue (negative), and light yellow green with a dark green stripe (ground))
Good value but with some issues

I wired this up to my landscape light transformer. So the pool light comes on with the rest of the outside lightning. Problem it always default to rotating color lights. So not ideal but it works. Installation was a pain, when running in 3/4" conduit from 1977 use landscape trimmer line to help pull wire through. And the seal that goes around the light be prepared to say a few choice words, what a pain. Was it worth saving hundreds, jury is out, let's see how long it last. Oh almost forgot the remote useful from about 3 ft away.
Nice light - remote battery is A23

The media could not be loaded. This is a nice light, but cord is short and NOWHERE in the literature is the battery size. In the battery compartment (bare visible) is the size A23. If the power goes out the light will turn on when it returns. Installation was a 7 out of 10 requiring some skill to mount especially is you are trying to cover an existing pool light mount. This light is EXTREMELY bright and you cannot control the intensity. The control has fast and slow color flashing and color selection. Cable length, remote documentation and slightly difficult installation is the reason for 4 stars not 5. My handy skill is above average.
Works great happy with the light.

Remote does not communicate with fixture why 4 starts. Asking the blue outside seal over three years has stretched. It there a way to order a replacement.
So Far So Good

I installed two of these lights to replace ancient Aqua-Lumin IIs. So far (3 days) all has been well. I'm most impressed with the brightness and the vivid colors produced. Installation was relatively easy, although I have some comments below. Overall, the lights are well worth the money especially when compared to the much higher priced lights on the market if they continue to function as now.

Installation: The instructions are next to worthless, you'll do better with the YouTube videos that exist. The single most important thing about the installation is the need for a 12VAC transformer, otherwise you'll fry the lights and probably anyone in the pool if you connect directly to 110v. A transformer doesn't come with the lights so I ordered the one suggested by Amazon partly because it would fit inside the junction box mounted on the pool's edge. The first challenge is to install the mounting bracket...I had hoped that the old Aqua-Lumin bracket would work...it didn't so I had to drill some extra holes in the new bracket to take advantage of the existing screw holes in the pool. Chiseling out the old epoxy in the niche was easy as it was only about an inch deep. Fishing the new wire through the old conduit was straight forward, be sure to allow extra to wrap around the spindle on the light fixture. BTW, I'm glad I ordered the 16' cable length as the run from the niche to the junction box was much longer than I expected...so double check and then maybe add a couple of feet of wire. Now, wiring was a challenge since the lights use UK wire color coding. Of course, turn off the power at the breaker and double check with a voltage tester then wire in the transformer which is straight forward. When going from the transformer to the lights here is the UK coding: Green/Yellow - Earth/Gnd; Brown - Hot (+); Blue - Neutral (-).

Remote: Flimsy is a good description, but it does the job more or less. The battery required ( 23A) is a bit unique so I suggest you order it along with the lights and transformer. The 12" long antenna looks like a1970s kid's walkie-talkie, but it's needed to get the signal to the submerged lights. With a fresh battery I was able to control the lights from about 30' away. However, I wasn't able control both lights with one remote, I'm not sure if its a range issue (being closer to one light) or a unique signal to the light. I also found holding the remote parallel to the light (not pointing at it) seemed to work better (dead spot off the tip of the antenna??). The four buttons on the remote aren't labeled, but the instructions do provide a list of their functions. I suggest you find a couple of desired light colors/sequences and stay from the Disco dancing light shows that are almost distracting...still everyone has their own preferences. I kept the 110V light switch wired into the circuit so I didn't have to depend on the remotes' on/off function.

Summary: The lights seem well-made, but time will tell. The LED lights are bright and really liven up the pool. Installation is manageable but a better written instruction sheet would help. The remote control is the weak link in the system both in construction and function. Still, the lights are an exceptionally good value if they continue to function as now. I definitely recommend these lights especially if you're replacing old high-energy incandescent bulbs.
