I bought this to use as a seat in my master bath dressing area. It's the perfect height for putting on my socks. The seat is firm - probably because it is sold as a footstool - but it's comfortable. I also love the storage area - great for my wife's hairdryer. The lid stays up and you have to close it - not just let it drop. I like that because being in the bedroom area - you do not get a slam sound.
