I used for a front door to automatically close and discourage dog from running out. Unlike the auto-locking tightening system you might get at lowes, this one is pinned and can be difficult/dangerous to tighten. It is pretty strong, I needed two for a fairly light from door and it still won't close all the way. If you want a really tight one that will slam the door shut use three of these hinges.
