Excellent value; Amazing performance - Cannot go wrong with this

Replaced my mechanical 7200RPM Toshiba HDD with this 480GB SSD, and I can definitely say this is one of the best upgrades to my PC I have done. Read and write speeds are much higher from what benchmarks say, and I can absolutely notice how much faster read speeds are when Windows boots and programs launch. For example, Photoshop used to take about 25 seconds to fully load, now it takes just about 6 seconds.

I chose this one because I saw it was on sale on Newegg, but then I realized after tax and shipping from Newegg, it was just slightly more expensive to get it on Amazon with Prime so that I would have it in a day or two, so I got it here instead. Sure, you can go with something faster like a Samsung 850 Evo or Pro, but you simply will not find something with this level of quality at this low of a price point.

Note: It does not come with a 3.5 inch adapter bracket, and does not come with a SATA cable, so make sure you have a spare SATA cable and have a 2.5 Inch mounting location in your case, or do what I did, and use mounting foam to stick it somewhere. If you do not have an open 2.5 inch mounting location, you can safely mount this somewhere in your case since this is a Solid State Drive and has no moving parts, nothing bad can possibly happen if it is mounted at a weird angle.
Wonderfully cheap and reliable SSD

Wonderfully cheap and reliable SSD, suitable for a RAID setup. Performance wise, this drive beats most others in the category: The comparable SandDisk model is stricken with quality diseases, OCZ and Toshiba models suffer from durability issues (all of these cost around $120). If we compare the ADATA to other entry models, such as the BX200 (which is $160!) we see a *downgrade* in performance and life expectancy.

If you are looking for a relatively cheap way to expand your storage and can do without hardware encryption, then the SP550 is something to consider.

If you intend to run your OS on this drive, I would recommend spending a bit more and buying into a higher tier SSD, such as the Samsung 850 Pro (which comes with a 10 year warranty, hardware encryption and unparalleled read/write speeds) or the Crucial MX200 (which comes with a 3 year warranty, hardware encryption and better build quality than the ADATA).

I bought both the 240GB (ASP550SS3-240GM-C) and the 480GB (ASP550SS3-480GM-C) ADATA Premier solid state drives but Amazon will not let me do separate reviews for them. I work on computers for a living and I have used and installed solid state drives from almost every major vendor- Kingston, Samsung, Crucial, etc. These were the first ADATA solid state drives I bought and I admit that I bought them based mainly on price. I have been using ADATA memory in my computers for over 10 years with no issues so I know they make a reliable product. Only time will tell for the longevity of these drives but performance wise they are on par with my high-end Samsung and Intel drives. Make sure to check out the screen shots of my comparison to other drives.

ADATA Premier SP550 240GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Solid State Drive (ASP550SS3-240GM-C):
I'm using the 240GB drive in a pretty basic custom Intel Core i5 build that is used for some mild gaming but mostly work and internet browsing. I have had no issues with the drive and it is working perfectly.

ADATA Premier SP550 480GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Solid State Drive (ASP550SS3-480GM-C):
I'm using the 480GB drive in a new Asus ROG Strix GL702VM-DB71 gaming laptop that came with a standard 1TB hard drive. I used Acronis True Image to copy the factory hard drive to the ADATA solid state drive with no problem. The new solid state drive gave the Asus the boost it needed to be a proper gaming laptop.

I have included Crystal SSD test results for this ADATA drive as well as for Samsung, Kingston, and Intel drives. I was really surprised how well the ADATA drive stacked up compared to the high end Samsung Pro and Intel 730 drives.
Great by - boost performance without breaking the bank!

This is actually my second purchase of one of these guys. You install it, install whatever OS you have for it and it works like a champ! You can also go and download the tools for it from the Adata website and it's even more amazing! Read and write speed are awesome, yes you can get something that goes faster but at some point you're going to have to deal with a bottle neck so for 99% of the planet this is a perfect SSD.
On my older HP laptop I decided it was time to dump the 5400 RPM mechanical HDD and put this bad mamma in it and wow what a difference! BIOS/UEFI loading takes longer than Windows 10 now days. I get all of the way through startup junk in like 5 seconds.
If you're looking to jump your performance for a little investment this is deffinately the way to go. The first of this SSD I dropped into my PC at home that I use for all kinds of things from work to watching videos. Having downsized from a 1TB HDD to this smaller drive I thought I was going to have a hard time but I just used my 1TB as a data store and now I have plenty of room for everything.
I'm certainly a huge fan of these, especially because I'm legally blind and I have to use a screen reader for computers. Usually it took FOREVER to load SuperNova or even NVDA on my laptop but not any more. Even the resource whore screen readers I use load in no time flat.
The only con I can honestly come up with is that when I go and sit at my work computer using a 7200RPM HDD it's sllllllooooooooowwwwwwww-w-w-w and annoying. It takes something near 5 minutes to load Windows and get to my startup screen, then after I login it's another 3-5 minutes for all of the startup junk. Obviously it's not this SSD's fault that other drives perform at a much slower read/write but it is really annoying LoL.
