Works but a little annoying
Andrea✓ Verified Purchase•March 2, 2024
Does the job but has a few minor downsides.
- You can only control the volume using this device (i.e. normal tv remote doesn't work while the device). So if it's too loud or quiet, you have to physically get up and walk over to the tv, find where the device is, and adjust the volume. This gets very annoying very quickly, esp. when watching things that require more frequent adjustment like YouTube videos.
- Connecting via Bluetooth can be a bit finicky. I have found the best way to ensure successful connection is to turn the device on (it automatically starts searching for a connection), then turn my headphones on, wait until they are connected (solid blue lights), then test audio by starting a video or something (sometimes it just decides not to play sound, but restarting the process almost always fixes it). IMPORTANT: turn off Bluetooth on nearby phones when trying to connect headphones to this device or the headphones will connect to the phones instead of the device.
- Device has to be very close to an outlet but also very close to the tv monitor because the cords are quite short. And it uses a USB cable so you have to have the correct adapter thingy to be able to plug into an outlet. Mildly inconvenient, but usually tvs are near outlets anyway so it's not that big of a deal.

Came To The Rescue

I purchased this unit back on December 20, 2022 for an older Samsung SmartTV. Also, it worked very well and much better than the brands that I sent back. It automatically shuts off when you turn off your television, and it automatically turns back on when you turn your television back on. Also, it automatically reconnects with your Bluetooth device that you have paired to it. Plus, it has really good anti-latency for headphones.
But bear with me. A few months later, my older Samsung television went out on me. Therefore, unexpectedly, I needed to purchase a new TV. Therefore, I purchased a modestly priced new Bluetooth television, which I shouldn't mention the brand (*whispering* Hisense 55U6H). So, I had this really nice Bluetooth transmitter adapter that I didn't need anymore. 😕
However, my Hisense HDTV turned out to be really buggy and eventually stopped transmitting sound to my Bluetooth headphones. But LOW AND BEHOLD, I decided to hook the Avantree Audikast to my Hisense TV to see if I could use my headphones. Well, guess what? It worked and the Avantree Audikast saved the day. ðŸ'‚
Therefore, I highly recommend this brand and this model. Also, they have very helpful and knowledgeable customer service.

This transmitter solved a problem !

Bought this awesome Bluetooth transmitter to help out a friend who has been loosing his hearing over the years. His TV doesn't have Bluetooth capability and wanted to hook up a set of bone conduction Bluetooth headphones so he can enjoy watching TV with his wife again. With this transmitter they are now able to listen at the same time, her though the TV speakers and him via headset without having the TV speakers at crazy loud volume. They can each control their own volume. Worked out awesome and they are very pleased with the setup. It stays paired to which is great too. For those who don't know bone conduction Head phones can help with the hard of hearing because the sound kinda bypasses the eardrum and is picked up by the cochlea in the inner ear so they can hear more normally. I got him the Qaekie brand headset they sell here on Amazon. I personally have two sets of these and love them. They were over one night and I let him try mine and he was amazed at how well he could hear the football game that I had on. Hope this might help someone else if they see this post.
Great Range, pairs easily with 2 sets of earbuds.

I spend a few hours each night watching TV with my Mom, her time is getting short. She is also hearing impaired. I have a Trond BT transmitter that I've been using because on the great room TV we can pair with 2 sets of earbuds at the same time. The Trond(s) work great, but the reason I purchased this Avantree, because while using the Trond (I have 3, I tried all of them) on the TV or Roku device when paired with 2 sets of earbuds, the sound on one or both pairs would stutter and cut out repeatedly after about an hour of usage. So I figured the problem was the Tronds, turns out I was wrong So when hooked up the Avantree to the CATV, Roku, DVD - the sound would begin to stutter and cut out after about an hour of usage as well.
I am stating this in case anyone out there has similar issues that this might help and save you a lot of frustration. And here was the problem.
My Mom listens to TV on her earbuds ALL DAY long, the MPOW's (currently sold on Amazon as MSTHOO and Ruebitrue, best all around earbuds you can get for the money) that I had purchased for her can hold a charge for a good 6 hours or more, and she uses them for around than 14 hours total, mostly for the news during the day. So both of her sets of earbuds go through an entire charge cycle every day. I purchased these most recent ones for her in December 2021 for Xmas. The problems started around early to middle of May 2022. After ruling out everything else and a whole lot of angry frustration, I had come to realize that the batteries on the earbuds had weakened and would start to fail at about 60 to 90 minutes of usage. So I am guessing they're good for about 100+ charge cycles or so, they still work fine on their own, but when 2 are paired on the same transmitter they begin to have issues. Even if my pair of earbuds were almost new, if one pair of earbuds out of the two was weak, it would cause both pairs to stutter. (unless the receivers on the earbuds are burning out or weakening, still a possibility)
Now back to the Avantree. The range was great, I could walk all the way out to my fence outside my home which is about 50 - 60 feet away, strong and clear signal, even with 2 sets of earbuds on at the same time. (I initially thought the range in the details was exaggerated, it was not, but see above for that issue) It was very easy to pair 2 sets of earbuds, just push a button, and the second set would connect. And it has a volume control, very handy on the Roku because the volume on that is weaker than on the CATV box. (The Roku is also on a DONGJIAN audio extractor, the main TV line out is awful, I had to use the line out/Roku remote with a BT transmitter, latency was very bad, and the extractor completely eliminates all latency on this device, COMPLETELY) Unfortunately I ended sending the Avantree back, not realizing the problem was the earbuds battery, weakened by high usage. If I realized that the earbuds were the problem, I would've not only kept this one for the CATV, I would've purchased another separate one to be used for the Roku so I wouldn't have to switch them back and forth between the 2 devices. I hope the folks over at Avantree are reading this, my humblest of apologies, this whole Bluetooth tech is brand new to me, I didn't start using any Bluetooth devices until September of 2020.
I give this Avantree 5 stars all around, and I will be getting another one quite soon. I highly recommend, especially at the price point, it is HIGHLY competitive with other transmitters of this type.
I hope this helped.

I Can Now Stay Up Late Watching TV and Not Disturb Anyone

I relaly like this transmitter. I is very flexible and versatile. I like that I am able to use my own bluetooth compatible device including my AirPods, SkullCandy, Bose, and. Sennheiser. You can connect two at a time. Setting up the device with my headphones was very easy. It took about 3 minutes. The device also offers users many input options, which broadens its pool of televisions that the device can be used with. I am running mine on the optical input, but you can also use Aux (3.5mm) and RCA (Red and White). The device is powered by a USB cable and does not include a plug. Fortunately, I have tones of those lying around.
It also took awhile for my device to be steady on the table because it is so lightweight and my cords that I plugged into it were so stiff. They were lifting the device right off of the dresser. It has since settled and is resting comfortably on my dresser.
I cannot really talk about sound quality because that has more to do about the headphones you are using than the device. I am mostly using AirPod Maxs and Skullcandy over the ears headphones and the sound quality is awesome.
The device is very low profile and does not attract a lot of attention sitting under my television. It does emit a little light from its blue LEDs but it is nothing that is too annoying in a dark room. I have noticed a very slight lag in the headphone audio, as that is not too unordinary. The lag is not noticeable though, unless you are listening to both the television audio and headphones at the same time. But why would you want to do that anyway.
This is an awesome device that is very versatile. I am glad that I purchased this device. My wife no longer has to listen to the television as I stay up late watching. I highly recommend this product.
