You can hear vacuum pump motor working but nothing is happening. THE FAULT: A graphite impeller within the vacuum pump fails. Since I installed this in my 2007 SL550, we have experienced severe weather including sub freezing temps and snow storms, not to mention heavy rains- his product has withstood the freezing temps with no issues and always works- I do recommend taking steps to waterproof the pump assembly in addition to replacing the trunk gasket to prevent the pump ingesting water
