A half pound of dried shallots is a lot of shallots. I expect this bag to last me the rest of my life, so I am giving some away to friends. I think they will find them as tasty and useful as I do. I rehydrate them for a few minutes, which allows me to use them in recipes calling for fresh shallots. The flavor is intense, as is their aroma in the plastic storage container where I keep them. They also work well as a crunchy addition to salads and soups in their dried state. Best of all, no peeling and chopping, and they don't go bad as fresh shallots do all too soon.
