I applied this to the bottom of my floor joists as part of a project to reduce "stack effect" which causes moist air from the crawlspace to be drawn up into the living space of the house, negatively effecting indoor air quality and other things. SmartSHIELD insulation incorporates a vapor barrier along with the foam insulation and the radiant heat barrier making it well suited for this application.

I was skeptical that this product would have decent insulation efficiency at only 5 mm thick but it really does better than fiberglass insulation, I used it to wrap my 8" metal ducts under my house (remember to not wrap the duct tightly cause a air gap is crucial for high efficiency) It's also nice that you have no fiberglass itch or respiration issues in a 48" roll it applies quickly with less tape with one roll I covered 52' including the distribution box.

What a difference.
