Great for high desert mountain climate!!

This swamp cooler was exactly what we needed! We live in the high desert/mountains so we have cooler nights in the summer and usually low humidity (less than 15-20%) and high temps around 80-95 degrees depending on the month in summer. Nighttime lows usually in mid 50's. Used this in our guest room. We have a storm door with a screen. Our guests were able to sleep with the screen on the storm door open and put this cooler in front of the door for nice cool breeze. Kept the room nice and cold all night (also added ice before bed). Now they have left and we are using it in the main room in the house in front of an open window. Between this swamp cooler and the small window unit in the main bedroom, it's keeping our 1200 sq ft. house a very comfortable 70 degrees during the daytime. I am very happy with this purchase. Understand that if you live in a humid and warmer climate you might not get the results you're looking for. I recommend for desert arid climates.
Good purchase for the money. Glad to have it but could be made with higher quality parts

Everyone complaining that it doesn't do the job of an air conditioner should go buy an air conditioner!! This does not require a window vent or the cost of an air conditioner...so no...it is not going to cool your whole house. I live in the high desert, and if I keep my windows and blinds closed during the day, and keep this thing clean and keep feeding it ice cubes and fresh water, it does what I need it to do and I think it's worth the purchase. The remote is essential, and all of the settings are nice.

The reason I only gave it 4 stars is that the little meter used to show you how much water is in the tank is junk. I thought that the very first time I filled it up...but the CRAZY cheap mechanism worked so I let it go. However, the first time I took the filters out and cleaned the inside of the water tank, I put it back together and almost killed the whole thing running it on empty. Life is busy...I didn't realize that it had been a long time since I filled the tank...but the cheap plastic water guage says that it's filled to max capacity! Now I have to shine a flashlight into the tank to stay aware of water level.
I would buy this again worth every dollar

This might be a small unit but it packs a big punch I was so happy to say by to the fans I was using I am in a 11' X 9' bedroom with 3 windows that stay closed cause other parts of house has central air and I only open/close door to eat meals or Doctors so in room almost 24/7 and this Air Cooler is amazing I only have to have it on level 1 when using the water on a 95 degree day and level 2 with just fan on 85 degrees or less If I had both old fans they would be on high all the time and very noisy Very worth the money I am happy I took the chance
Great for cooling a small area with some quirks

This unit is surprisingly quiet and it's effective in my (previously) sweltering bedroom. The only part that's a little annoying is the water gauge sometimes gets stuck and makes it appear that water is still in the tank when it's actually empty. So, sometimes, I have to walk over and tap it if it doesn't seem like it's cooling to confirm that's what's going on. Otherwise, this is much less expensive than a portable AC unit and uses less electricity.
Glug, glug, glug

Know your indoor and outdoor humidity levels before you purchase this unit. Ours works best when the house is below 50% RH (relative humidity). When water cooler button is ON, it makes a lot of noise, gerglin and gluggin sounds, to the point of annoyance. Uses about 4-5 liters of water per day, running off and on throughout the day. Inside a small bedroom, it is almost too moist - if I run more than an hour. The lower fan speeds are quiet enough to sleep to. The top speeds will move air, but not nearly as strong as my table-top oscillating fan. Works great when it's 90-100 outside and dry. I like to portability being able to move it from room to room. Lightweight; nice remote. On hottest days we park unit in living room and with our ceiling fan on, it almost feels like a mini A/C. The first unit we had was making a buzzing noise right from the start, so we exchanged it for another. Called 800 number, customer service was very helpful and replaced it immediately.
