My puppy has played with this, tried to rip it apart, and pulled at it. But it is the most sturdy mat that I have seen. I use it in place of a crate bed because he's been chewing holes in it. And this works nicely because I can fold it over and when he wants to play with it I dont have to worry about pieces of cotton being all over his crate. It doesn't slip easily but of course he does move it when he slides his paws back at a corner of it. I was hoping it'd be a bit heavier so that it would stay in place because we have carpet. But if you have hard wood floors this would work better for you. In the picture I have a playpen "fitted sheet" so that the pad won't move. Also, when I do wash it I add a splash of vinegar to the wash just to get the smells out. As well as trying to get as much hair off of it as possible otherwise you might have to wash it and dry it again.

These pads are just magical! When I received the first pad, I wasn't convinced it was absorbent, so poured a cup of water on it. Voila! The water was absorbed almost instantly. We specialize in older kitties, and recently our 18 year old went blind (we have taken him to multiple vets, they suspect a brain tumor). We have been careful to keep everything in place, but sometimes he gets disoriented and cannot find the box. We have these strewn about all over the floor, and they have been fabulous. We have a stack ready to go and as one gets soiled, we just quickly replace it. At first I was buying larger ones because it looked better (rather than having a bunch of smaller ones all around) but now I realize that wasn't a great idea, because once it is soiled I still have to wash the entire thing. So now we have smaller ones all around. They hold up extremely well in the wash. We hang them up to dry and they all look as good as new. As an off-label use, recently due to a hip replacement my Mom had to use a temporary handicapped commode next to her recliner. I threw one of these under the commode to protect the carpet, and it worked just great.

I am ordering another set tonight for even more coverage! The pads are good size - not too big nor too small. They are great for our two old & incontinent dogs. Our boys are learning that it is okay to pee on these pads - they get praised! We keep one under their "pup tent" to protect our wood floor. The pads completely hold the pee, you can see that it spreads out across the pad (NOT through it to the floor). You can tell the areas that are wet/damp as they appear a little darker. These pads have a very nice backing that stays in place well, but they can also be moved around easily if needed. I wash them in the washing machine using cool water with a small amount of detergent, then toss them in the dryer on the "air" setting which lasts about 50 minutes & they come out like new!
