I bought a cheap $40 compressor marketed under a popular hobby paint name and I should have done a little more research and bought this first. The pressure switch works perfectly- in my case, it kicks on a second or two after i start using the airbrush and kicks off about two seconds after I stop. I have my output set between 25 and 35 most of the time.
I do not currently see the need for a tank, which costs $100 more on most other models. This is easily the best bang for the buck in compressors.
The only downside is the noise. I thought the poor quality one I started with was loud, but this one is not much better. And it vibrates badly enough to run across the table on its own- make sure you have a nice long hose (mine is a 10 foot) to run this from the floor, or under the table to cut the noise a little. I will be running this on a foam floor mat in addition to it being on carpet, so that it doesn't shake the shared duplex wall I work next to.
