Great Onesie - Can’t Go By Sizes!

I have bought and returned probably 10 of these, searching for just the right product to keep diaper wraps on for my 8.5 lb. chubby male Chihuahua, Yoda, 9 years old. I already have a brand I am able to use on both my 19 lb. male Shih Tzu, Charlie, just turning 12, and my 38 lb. female Black Lab mix, Dani, just turning 10 "” the SurgiSnuggly. The Medium (Charlie) and the Large (Dani) fit them both perfectly. But when I tried getting a SurgiSnuggly for Yoda, I hit a snag "” the SurgiSnuggly is just not stretchy enough for my chubby little boy. Following the measurements, the XS was right measurement-wise, but he like a sausage about to explode, and getting it off was traumatic. So I tried the small, which was a little too long, but here again, it was a little better but still small around. I ordered different brands and I simply don't know who writes these up, but UPS now knows me as I'm coming through the door with onesies. When I received the large in this (measurements for a Chihuahua?) I had to laugh "” poor Yoda was in a sack with his head sticking out. I put in for a return, but liked the fabric so much, I decided to take a chance with the small "” it was definitely stretchy enough. I decided to order the medium for Charlie to have a spare and waited to return the large until I knew if I was going to have to return one or both of the other two. Well, HOORAY! Perfect fit for both Yoda and Charlie!! They have snaps, but truly, you just have to slide the back legs out and roll it up and remove the diaper for them to do their business! I can't use a wrap diaper for a female, but Dani was found housebroken, so not an issue. She does have some anxiety issues "” I adopted her from Hurricane Harvey in Texas and she was an emotional wreck. But that has gotten much much better. I'm sure if the time comes I'll figure it out. But I decided to try the large on Dani and, believe it or not, perfect fit! And they look very classy in the gray!

SO I wrote all this to give an indication of which size actually fits what size dog for this product. Ignore the chart and use my review!! Aside from Yoda, both Dani and Charlie are average build. I've attached pictures. I hope this helps someone after I was tortured in this process! You're welcome!

Our golden retriever had an emergency spleen removal and we know that dogs and stapled incisions don't work well together. This is the only thing that 1. Our pup tolerated and didn't try to houdini herself out of . 2 was stretchy, comfortable and easy to clean and care for. 3 the snaps take a little bit to put together, which means it would take a lot for the pup to be able to remove it if they decided they wanted to. I'm so thankful that this is the one we chose. Our golden is 8.5 years old and weighs 81 lbs. XXL fit perfect!

Our puppy ate something he shouldn't have, ending up having an emergency surgery to remove the foreign object before it made it to the intestines. 15 stables later, our pup is now home. He was really struggling getting comfortable being a lamp/flashlight. So we switched to a t-shirt as long as we were actively near him.

Now, my husband works from home. Well, he forgot to mute (story of my life), and the entire company heard me say "We have to stop him from licking himself!" Needless to say, now everyone in the company is now asking "Whose licking himself?!" And from that convo, we were recommended this. This has so far really helped us!! I'm hoping this helps him feel more comfortable and "normal" as can be with 15 stables starting mid-chest to just above his penis.

At least he looks cute!!!
Pretty good, sizing issues and not all buttons work

So I looked at the sizing chart closely. I have a 70 lb nearly 1 year old lab that was having surgery. Based on the measurements I got an XXXL. Overall it was fine but it was pretty big in the back and she could still access her wound to lick when she tried through the opening around the legs. It was working decent enough but I decided to order a second one and this time I got an XXL, just one size down... holy moly the size difference. I got it on her and around the chest was fine but her legs barely fit, it pulled the fabric so it covered some of her upper leg, it couldn't fit all the way through and was a LOT more snug over all. I wasn't expecting it to be so drastic in difference from one size to another when they are offering so many size options. I expect it more for items that only have 3 or 4 size options.

Aside from sizing, there are a LOT of buttons... a LOT... my dog enjoys wearing clothes so she didn't mind while we buttoned her up. If you have a wiggly or stubborn dog I imagine it would be difficult keeping them in place whil doing all buttons (there must be close to 40-50 snaps) and a hand full of the snaps were broken on arrival and didn't work but there are so many having a few not snap made no difference.

Another con I'll note is that the material stretches out VERY easily. Meaning, while it remained snug around the legs after wearing just a couple hours it started getting loose around her butt and abdomen and sagged in the back enough that if I didn't pull it up it would get wet when she peed.

Pros - I did buy another brand and style of suit as well and one thing I love about this one is I don't have to unbutton anything before taking her out to pee. HUGE bonus. The material is soft and not too thick so your dog won't overheat. And despite the amount of buttons the set up so that you don't have to put anything over the head is really nice.

If the material didn't stretch out so much, if there was slightly fewer buttons that all worked and if the sizing was a bit more normal/appropriate I would give it 5 stars. But for some of these flaws I'm slightly knocking it down to 4 stars. Would still recommend it though so long as you go into it with the proper expectations.
Runs small, recommended order a size up for larger dog

Super soft easy to get on, lots of buttons, which was good because it ran too small, and I had to leave about six of them undone, so that it didn't pull on her legs. She just had surgery, or I would order an extra extra large.
