It was a job to replace the old one out but it did work. FYI these keys that come with the lock will not work until they are coded to your car. You must bring your car into a VW service center to do so. Other than that your car will go into safe mode and will not run.
Good Value, a bit tricky on the install

Works good, but install can be tricky. The install video shows how easy it is, but there are two tricks to the install. 1. The locks are passenger and driver specific, but not marked. (You need to test fully after install, yes I made this mistake.) 2. Do not drop the lock wire when swapping, it will fall in door and you will have to remove door panel to fix. (Not too tough, but changes job from 5 minutes to about 30 minutes per side.) Also, sprayy a bit of lube in lock on install to ensure smooth operation.
Saved me an expensive dealer repair

I had a mechanic install this. It looks like a fairly difficult DIY job & I have a mechanic I trust. He was pretty worried this wouldn't work because of VW's immobilizer. Truth be told I was very worried too. I had the old key and was able to get the transponder chip from it (with some very careful rotary tool work to cut away the key walls) and slot it in the new key. Started right up without any issue.
Works As Intended

Installed on 6/8/23 and working great! I will update in the future.

*Disclosure - I only utilized the ignition switch housing. Not the key tumbler or switch itself*

My ignition switch housing on my 2011 VW Jetta TDI went bad. I could sometimes turn the key to auxiliary power but it would get stuck before rotating to the on position. One time I got it to the on position and turned the car on but then couldn't turn it back off. Well known shop looked at it and quoted me either $550 or $1000 depending on what was wrong. Purchased this instead and kept the original key tumbler and ignition switch and installed this housing piece with those on it.

Speaking just to the housing - this product is exactly what I needed and works! Yes it was a pain to remove the old one (have to remove shear bolts) and once I did that, the install of the assembled new one was pretty easy. I'm fairly handy and do most of my own car work but still took me a good 4 hours once I knew how to disassemble the new ignition switch assembly and the old one and then reinstall (thanks YouTube).

I knew going into it that the housing was bad because the electrical components worked when I could turn it just enough to get aux power and the tumbler was turning so it had to be the housing.

This is exactly what I needed to save $500-$1000!
Much cheaper than the Dorman one

I ended up reusing my factory housing, the way this part was shipped, it was opposite what mine was and when i rotated the pin in the housing it didnt work right.

This may have just been my frustration coming to a head but i put the pin in my oem housing and it was fine.

The jeep design is kinda dumb in my opinion but 🤷ðŸ¼"â'‚ï¸.

Got the job done and now the car moves again.
