I see a lot of outrage here about all the plastic but the sponges I received had no plastic at all! Maybe the manufacturer heard everyone. Anyway mine came in a reclosable brown waxed paper bag, all together with no individual wrappings. So there's that.
As to the sponges themselves, they are every bit as durable as the plastic ones I used to use - maybe even more so, because they don't start to deteriorate right away when I use cleaning products with bleach. I'm still on my first one, and it's been almost two months now. (Don't worry - I use a lot of cleaning products with bleach these days *ahem-pandemic-ahem* :D so they aren't starting to smell nasty or anything yet!) I also like the color they come in - nice, relaxing shades of green and tan!

I buy a new package on the basis of a sponge lasting 3-4 weeks, during which I keep well rinsed at the dish sink, then wash and cycle it over to the cleaning sponge category which wears any sponge put fast, then toss. I'm very happy. Other sponges haven't held up nearly as well.
