I used Avast before but decided to try AVG this time. Avast and AVG use the same engine, so the only difference is the GUI. Note, Avast bought AVG a couple of years ago. I think the AVG's GUI is slightly easier to use. When you do more advantages functions, like working with firewall rules, the GUI is identical and both are easy to use. AVG does not appear to be a resource hog. I haven't noticed is using a lot of processor time. Since it uses the same engine as Avast, I would expect not to be a resource hog.

I would buy either Avast or AVG again as both are decent products. I have installed AVG on Windows, Android, and IOS without any problems. You just need to add the license key and you can easily find instructions online for doing this. I bought the 10 device version and I learned with Avast that you need to track the systems that you install the product on. If you buy directly from the company, you can register each system with the company, so you will know how many licenses you used by checking online.

When you buy AVG 3rd party, you need to track each system. You also have to remember to uninstall the software if you are switching computers. If not you will not be able to get that license back. I note each system I install AVG on in a text file. Under "My Subscriptions" you can see the expiration date of each module and AVG will give you pop-ups when your subscription is close to expiring, so you won't get caught off guard.

I have four computers. I installed this on one computer, and ran it for about 20-days before installing it on another, just to be sure it worked without trouble. I am happy with the results.

Years ago I used AVG, and it was a bit more complicated than it is today. It was easy to install and I like the fact that instead of having an irritating message about some unknown site attempting to enter some port, several times an hour, with AVG all I have to do is pull up the report feature, and it tells me which site attempted to track me, but was blocked.

I was using a well known anti-virus suite, but I got tired of seeing popups telling me that I needed to add more protection, by buying more protection. I don't get those very annoying alerts with AVG.

Another feature is that it puts background operations to sleep until I need them, which helps increase speed. So, instead of having "Microsoft Office 365" constantly running in the background, the modules are put to sleep until I open a Microsoft File".

So far, I am glad that I replaced my other brand protection with AVG.

Had this for 2 years - just bought it again. I did once avail the services of tech support - 5 stars. Uses alot of memory and cpu - but they all do now - guessing that's why i can buy 16gb of memory for less than what i used to pay for a 2 gig hard drive. Has on numerous occassions spotted and warned me of demon attacks. I don't use the VPN anymore - got to be too tedious. All in All - great product - And - can't beat the price

First, I'll say the subscription process is better than for Norton products (which I used regularly in years past), for which you now have to sign up for "auto-renewal" whether you want to or not. In general, AVG makes a good security product, and it seems to do its job effectively. The main thing that bugs me is the pop-up window whenever I change networks (I have two), and wants to scan the network. Once I tell the program it's my own home network, it should put that fact into memory and not bug me again. Otherwise, it does its job in the background, which I definitely like.
