This peeler is sturdy in use and delicate on it's subject.

I use it for citrus rind in cocktails, razor thin onion for salads and carpaccios and any other task where other peelers would cut too deeply.

It's particularly well suited to skinning asparagus. The removal of the thin, tough skin with a less subtle peeler often results in losing much of the soft flesh inside. Due to this peeler skimming just the slightest layer off, it's perfect for preparing asparagus for cooking.

One shortcoming: the pointed tip. It's sharpish though not sharp enough to readily cut out the eyes in a potato. I've scraped myself on it a few times when using the peeler without enough care. From a product design perspective, I would do away with this as I typically don't use this peeler for potatoes, mostly more delicate work.

Easy to handle with a comfortable heft to it and enough rubberized to maintain positive control.

Blades are super sharp and serrated, they've made short work of everything I've tossed at it so far, to include Pineapples.

Do be careful cleaning it, though. The serrations can sometimes catch and hold small pieces and it's easy to peel oneself a little if you're not paying attention.

Looking forward to using this for years and years.

I like the feel of this peeler in my hand and it works better than any of my other peelers . I've used it for apples, potato's, cucumbers, carrots, and even cheese. There is a rubber (?) black piece inset in the handle and I noticed, after a couple weeks of use, that the black piece was missing. I don't know what happened to it. The box said to contact Cave Tools for any problems, which I did via email and I had a new peeler delivered to my door within days. Cave Tools Rules in customer service.

[Disclaimer: I ordered this for my wife, who is an amateur gourmet. I'm conveying her review. I ordered several peelers (all online -- thanks a lot, covid) because she had an old peeler that she really liked, but it has aged and she wanted/needed a new one. She's pretty particular about her cooking tools(!)) This is the 2nd best peeler out of the various peelers that we ordered. The best (and still undefeated) is Spring Chef Premium Swivel Vegetable Peeler. Both peelers cost about the same, roughly $9+ (very good price for the quality of each). Both are much better quality than the usual peelers (prices from $2 on up). They are both easy to hold and use, with the Spring Chef ('SC') edging out the Cave Tools ('CT') because the SC handle is bigger and more comfortable to hold for long periods. Both peeled very smoothly and easily (they are sharp!), with the SC winning again by a narrow margin because it is easier to make thinner peelings more easily (in our experience). Recommendation: get one of each, they are both excellent quality for the price and they are useful for different tasks. The Spring Chef is first choice for 'just peeling' (ie getting rid of skin such as from potatoes). The Cave Tools cuts a bigger peel and is perfect for cutting up vegetables (carrots, for example) to put into salads or dishes that need bigger chunks (for example, soups, Asian-style seafood 'pancakes' (Korean specialty, delicious - google it), salads, etc.) My wife strongly protested when I told her she had to pick just one - she 'must have' both of them. So - buy one of each!

If you just want a competent peeler, this will work fine. But to be nit picky, this peeler lacks the finishing touches to make it not look/feel cheap up close.

Craftsmanship: the peeler is probably made of a zinc with probably a sizeable void. It feels much lighter than it looks and it cheapens the feel of it. The peeler looks to have a cheap chrome layer that has some rough edges. I assumed the metal had a mirrored polish but it looks more like a chrome job. The feel while holding it and the visual aesthetics up close were a bit underwhelming.

Comfort. Holding it while in use felt fine. The handle has some girth to it making it fairly easy to hold. The plastic grip is a bit maligned but its not too noticeable. The part that bothers me is the sharp tip that is meant for picking out the potato eyes. While peeling fruits and veggies sometimes it nicksthe hand holding the fruit/veggie. I'm probably going to grind off that tip. I can easily use a paring knife to do the eyes if I need to.

Cleaning. I've never had a peeler I could remove the blade for thorough cleaning so this one just rinses like most other peeler's I've used. I just wished they make peelers where its easy to flip the blade around or just so the blades can be replaced.

Otherwise, i'm satisfied with the peeler. For the price, its really hard to beat. But you'll get what you pay for.
