It is so much easier to sew on thicker material. I was so happy when I brought out my new thimble the other day when I was sewing a tee shirt under arm. Well, it turns out that the material was so thin the needle passed through it so easily. I realized then when I needed them, when the material is thicker, like on my pants. It feels great knowing that I have them when needed. Thimbles are well made, you get two of them.
