Very cool cheap little motor drive

So I don't claim to fully understand how this stuff works, but I am taking a motor drive course next semester, and this is a cool little thing for me to play around with for now. It seems relatively accurate; the PWM signal looks clean on my old oscilloscope, and my frequency counter shows that it is outputting what it claims to be.

This doesn't have fancy features like soft starting or stopping, but for the price, I didn't expect that. I took some pictures and you can see that both frequency and duty cycle are very close to being spot on.

I built 2 little circuits using a mosfet to switch the OUT+ line using the PWM signal on the gate and it worked perfectly. The first one is just an LED that can be dimmed or brightened, and then I hooked up a little DC motor. Out of curiosity I looked at the signal going to the motor with and without a capacitor attached, and you can see how cleanly the circuit is switching the motor on and off.

Over all this thing is really fun for someone like me that tinkers in electronics, and I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to teach themselves something about motor drives or PWM signals.
