This is a substantial machine. It weighs roughly 40 pounds and really is one of the few pieces of equipment like this that I have not felt compelled to clamp down. I will say that the thought of "let them eat cake" comes to mind often as the blade cuts - and If you have any apprehension using a paper cutter - well then this tool is not for you. They have added as many safety features as possible but I treat this sort of like my tile saw or table saw - I make sure I am in proper position and focus. The light kit is an absolute necessity and the fact that it is included is much appreciated. I hate buying something and then feel like "one piece at a time" is my theme song.

This may seem stupid to many, but the box if opened from one end makes a great trash can. it is very heavy card board and so far has survived the job site and several bag changes in its almost two months of use.

Like many tools I buy today, I truly had sticker shock at the cost. I looked long and hard about getting narrower units, but kept coming back to this because it could handle the widest hardie plank, but with the knowledge that less work would be required if cutting a 5" piece on a 13" unit than of i cut a 5" piece on an 8" unit. The cut is better than i can get going slowly with a quality jig saw loaded with a brand new blade. Moreover, there is no need for dust protection and noise. It is truly well built for its purpose. the handle can also be extended for greater leverage and i have NO concern about it bending. I would not feel comfortable with this blade on any machine that was not this well built and strong. I highly recommend this product and can't wait to get on a hardie plank (or smart side) project.
