I have older mercury vapor building lights that I'm in the process of replacing. They recepticles are heavy and the bulbs burn hot and fail within a couple years. The install was easy, weigh half as much, and the light cast is brighter , while using less power! Win / Win :)
Great barn light could be easier to install

As described these are bright and cast light very well. The light replaced a high pressure sodium light and I'm very happy so far. The lens and case seem pretty durable and was easy to wire. The short falls are that you should be able to disconnect the front from the back for ease of installation. I had to do this by removing the screws and glue that hold the led starters to the back plate. It's almost impossible to install the light from a ladder with the front cover in place. The wires were stripped back to short but that's not a big deal. The front cover internals looked almost painted over oxidation. These housings might have been sitting out and got wet or they are reconditioned. The exterior looks fine and that's what counts anyways. Can't beat the price, we will see how long it lasts.

These are very bright. The real test will take time to see if they last. There are two glaring problems that make installation a big problem. The biggest issue is that there are no quick disconnects to separate the two pieces during installation. The instructions specifically tell you to unplug the quick disconnects when mounting the back, but there are no disconnects. It's all hardwired. Someone had to have made a conscious decision to ship them this way knowing full well that it would make installation extremely difficult and render the instructions confusing. This is at best indifference toward the customer and at worst contempt. If this were my company someone would lose their job for doing this.
The second issue is much smaller. The two screws that secure the front to the back require an Allen wrench to tighten them. One screw is easily reachable, but the other is positioned so as to need an extremely long Allen wrench. I purchased the longest one I could find and it still wasn't long enough. It would have been so easy for them to use more standard Phillip head screws. Again, it demonstrates that someone didn't give thought to what the customer would experience.

The media could not be loaded. These are great lights with plenty of brightness and light spread. One of two lights strobes at dawn and dusk. Cover the photoeye and it stays on without strobing. Only remedy Amazon has is to return whole unit.
