I just love flying the bird around the park on a still day. It's calming and exciting at the same time. The interface works well enough to steer around obstacles like trees and buildings. My favorite way to fly is to shut the bird off at altitude (easy with the index finger switch) watch it glide back down, then start flapping before hitting the ground.

Stay away from wind.

It would be an exaggeration to say Go Go Bird changed my life, but it did amaze me what is possble with a battery, a motor, and a microcontroller. Amazing design. (Is Hanvon somehow related to the esteemed Tyrell Corporation?) The rubber band wind-up flying bird that I grew up with didn't steer. It looked like a rubber band unwinding in the air. Kinda cool, yes, but being able to pilot a bird is great fun.

You could add a "squawk" function with little additional weight in the next version.

The figure-8 function is really useful. When your kid needs something at the park, you can "park" the bird in the air with that button. Putting the bird on pause is most useful. Flying Go Go Bird is great, but there are times when other priorities come the fore. That's when you reach for that lil figure-8 button. Park the bird, get shit done....minutes pass...oh hello Bird. That's how we roll with the figure-8 button. Watch for wind though, that 16 bit logic only goes so far. Navier-Stokes not included. The bird does not grok turbulent mixing.

Two batteries are reasonable. I sometimes think that one lasts longer than the other, but that may be just variability in roll-to-roll manufacture. Charge them both before you fly as it takes a while to top them off.

The plastic screw is crucial. Learn it, don't lose it. (Flies without too but battery can dislodge)

I've never adjusted the tail and don't find a need to. The bird is a delicate piece of plastic. Not rugged but a delicate fun.
I have wanted something like this for 20+ years... Really fun toy if you're into this sort of thing.

I'm in my late 30s. I have memories of seeing someone with a bird that flew on its own in the park when I was a child. I think his was a wind-up. But it flew by the same principle: wings that flap. I always wanted one.

This little bird surprised me with how much fun it is. It's like a drone that is much harder to control, meaning you don't get to choose exactly what it does, you are at the mercy of the wind. I tried it inside my home, which is not enough space and without wind, it's very difficult to change elevation. You really need to use it outside, or maybe a gymnasium.

You can tell it to go left or right and speed up or slow down the wing flapping speed, but the wind pretty much determines where this thing is going to go. It's basically a battle against the wind to keep it out of trees, backyards, etc. It's like a kite with no strings.

I think it's a blast, but my kids get frustrated with it. It feels extremely fragile, so I know it will break easily.

It looks like a parrot flying around. My wife says it looks silly, but I think it almost looks like a real bird at times. I've even had flights where butterflies and sometimes other birds briefly fly around it.

A word if advice: if you're going way too high or headed for a tree, just shut off the wings, it will almost always gracefully glide down like a paper airplane. You can even turn on the wings just before it reaches the ground and it will recover most of the time. Sometimes the wind is just too strong to make it go where you want, so killing the wings can be a life saver.
SUPER FUN -- Okay for the price

My 7 year old daughter has tons of fun playing with this bird. For the price, its okay but the controls don't work great the bird kinda does its own thing. Battery life is good.
Neat for the price

Daughter loved it, but has a fatal design flaw
MICHAEL A WICK✓ Verified PurchaseMay 12, 2023
My seven-year old daughter loved this toy, it was very fun and enjoyable for her. Then one day we took it outside for a flight and learned the hard way there's an essential design flaw with its interaction with the remote. The flaw being that once the toy is out of range of the remote it continues with its last known command, which in our case was to keep flapping its wings. So I watched helplessly as the bird continuing going up, up, and eventually far, far away and out of sight. And of course I was the one with the remote at the time so a trip to the ice cream parlor and the toy store later, my daughter has started her road to forgiveness of me.
