I've been trying to learn to use finger picks to amplify the sound. I have some metal picks but they're to difficult to modify and I can't get rid of the scratchy sound they tend to produce. I just received a set of EPIC berry picks and, while they can still use some modification (contouring for my fingers) they're very comfortable and there is no scratchy sound. Due to my inexperience with finger picks I'm not sure how worthwhile this is, but I do think these pick, as opposed to the metal ones, will motivate me to keep trying to learn.
