The media could not be loaded. - Great electric fire mirage that actually looks like real flames - no kidding! The video doesn't quite do it justice. The flames are projected onto a half-moon shaped piece of plexiglass. There was a problem with glare/reflecting light during the day, but I fixed it to my satisfaction. I used a brown sharpie and outlined the edge of the plexiglass. The inside of my firebox is a light color, and I didn't want to use black. You can't see the top of the mirage at all, just the sides. Enter mesh curtains. I've got them nicely pleated and pulled to the sides, and the panel is virtually invisible now. The little bit of light reflect acutally looks pleasing when it's off during the day, but at night it's just a gorgeous little fire. I got this because I wanted the birch logs. They also make a set with fresh cut wood that would be my second pick. Fit is perfect.
- This wood fireplace was put out of commission due to age, leaks, and a roof over (cut the stack off). We don't have natural gas and didn't want to mess with propane. We actually removed the dated glass panel doors and painted the metal that was left. Have a real nice candleholder to put there in the summer. I ordered new screens after installing the electric insert to make it look a little more like a real set up. We hardwired ours in to an existing fan motor supply, and look forward to a great-looking cozy fire anytime we fire up the remote : )

I like the fact that you can either use the logs for a beautiful ambiance in the room or put the heat on for more comfort if you need it. They even look beautiful when not in use just sitting in the fireplace.

This product displays well, looks reasonably real. Do not however expect it to provide much heat. You'd have to sit right in front of it to feel the heat.

Love this electric log set. Easy to install, fast shipping, an overall good value for the price.
