Excellent easel. This easel is by far the sturdiest and most stylish one I could find anywhere for less than $500. I decided to look for an easel to set up new art area in our 2nd living room. I purchased it more for me to have a little theraputic downtime and for company to play and doodle on while they visit, not for any professional art.
I bought it specically for it's mobility (wheels and ability to go completely horizontally) and the for the aesthetic art gallery caliber appearance.
Based on a couple reviews that mentioned a small manufacturing defect upon assembly or a broken piece, I was a little concerned to order it online but mine arrived in perfect condition, was packed well, and was easy to assemble.
I also love that it has brass screws and fittings which makes me feel confident that it will last many years to come!
It also works well with canvases and sketch boards (although the a framed canvas fits the most securely on the bottom).

The media could not be loaded. I found this easel very easy to put together. All of the pieces fit correctly, everything was clearly labeled (parts and tools) and in about a half hour the easel was properly constructed. It is a truly beautiful piece of furniture with lovely brass fittings and a smooth rosewood finish. It is large and sturdy, weighing about 25lbs, with wheels that roll easily and lock into place. One of the main draws for me aside from the beauty of it was the fact that it can tilt to a perfectly vertical angle which is important for me as a painter. It's easy to adjust in spite of the heft of the individual parts and would be able to comfortably support very large canvases. Everyone who has seen it thinks it's incredibly beautiful. I haven't used it for painting yet but I already have a canvas affixed at it's holding it very securely. I would highly recommend this easel!

I purchased this for my home for its minimal profile to display framed canvases. It is really a very nice design and elegant (just like they claim). In fact, it functions beautifully. It is difficult to find a tilting easel that can also be used horizontally, especially in this price range. I feel guilty using this easel just for display. I'm probably going to order another to use in my studio. For assembly, I was very impressed by the way the parts were organized by letters and sequenced in the instructions - very precise and clear. It would have taken only 15 minutes to assemble if one of the wooden back pieces (that fits to hold a brass piece to prevent over turning) had not been machined incorrectly; it had to be drilled out to fit properly in the slot. I decided not to penalize the product for this minor glitch. That would have been harsher than necessary. But I mention it because I think Meeden would like to know so they can work with the manufacturer to remedy this teeny problem. Meeden, if you read this, please let me know this issue has been corrected so I can order a second one. Thank you, Sandra A.
