Installed easily. I used some snips on the battery tray, but otherwise it was plug and play. Opening the controller was a harder more delicate task than installing modifying the batt tray.
Note if you have battery issues, safe some time and greif and replace the microusb connector. Each gen is different so be aware

Don't know about longevity or durability yet. Just installed them today for the first time. Controller lit right up and took a full charge. Installation was very simple. Don't buy a new $60 controller when you can probably fix it for a fraction of the cost and repair it yourself.

So first off, you need to know that this is an aftermarket replacement - not OEM equipment from Sony. The plug is a tight fit in the terminal - DON'T PLUG IT IN till you are ready to close the controller! I plugged it in and now it won't come back out. If I ever need to replace this battery again, I will likely need to cut the terminal wires and solder a new battery in. That being said, it's not a deal-breaker. The other factor is that the battery is slightly longer than the OEM one. I ended up removing the battery tray and cutting off the short ends, as well as nipping some of the plastic around the trays mounting points because the wires connect to the battery at a different location from the original battery. Again, not the hardest modifications, but fidgety when working on delicate electronics. Reassembling the controller was another adventure in and of itself. On the whole I would not recommend changing the battery yourself unless you are handy with electronics and have a get-er-done attitude. But if you are, then this is well within your ken as, aside from a few mods, this is entirely doable. I would recommend this battery - but maybe sand down the plug before inserting it into the socket.
