Great product!

Initial delivery was damaged, but replacement was perfect! Great size and capacity. Would be nice if lid wasn't "inlaid" and had an edge so I could lift it without having to walk in front of it to step on the lever, but we'll adjust. So far we really like it and I would recommend!
Would have been a 5 except

Moving in to a new house brings some changes that weren't planned for. Like for example in my old house I had a spot in my garage right outside my kitchen door where I could line up trash and several recycling cans. In my new house my kitchen leads into a laundry and mud room but there's no place to put trash cans leaving the only convenient spot behind a counter island indoors. It wasn't long before I decided that cheap plastic trash cans were no longer going to cut it for me, I had to either have something custom built or find cans that are attractive enough to leave out in the open. The custom idea wasn't going anywhere because nothing we could come up with was convenient to use, the only solution is that the cans had to stay exposed out in the open. So I got a fancy and expensive EKO stainless steel foot pedal can for the garbage and was much happier with it than I expected. When it came time to replace the two plastic cans I was using for plastics and metal cans I wanted something that matched but were sized according to the way they are actually used. After researching a couple of dozen different dual compartment cans I settled on this one also from EKO, who coincidentally is the same company who makes that garbage can I got a few months ago.
The dual compartments are sized perfectly for the way we do recycling, and the exact same size as the plastic cans we have been using. The overall wide when combined with the garbage can is exactly the length of our counter island, that could not have been planned better. And all three cans have step pedals, something we are all getting used to using since we always had manually raised lids on our cans previously, but at least they all operate the same way.
What is a disappointment is that EKO doesn't sell dual recycling cans that match their own garbage can. Of the many brands available they look reasonably similar but I can't figure out why they didn't think to make a set that matches. The silver metal is the same color but they use black trim around the rim rather than the silver trim used on the garbage can. And the foot pedals are completely different.
As far as the dimensions are concerned, I'm not sure I understand why some users were surprised and down rated this product because of the dimensions. That's something you are supposed to research before you buy something. Of course recycling cans are supposed to be smaller than garbage cans, who wants three gigantic cans lined up "“ they don't all get filled with the same amount of stuff. And it is common that compartmented recycling cans do not have identical capacities, having one side that's 30 liters and one side that's 15 liters is an advantage, not a disadvantage. If that's not what works for you, don't order it, at least when they are lined up side by side the overall shape and look goes well together.
As was true with the garbage can I still believe these things are way overpriced and they use more plastic than they tell you. The company who goes overboard on sending them in three heavy duty boxes with thick protective padding but guess what, my can arrived with a huge dent in it. Since the boxes were perfect the only way that could have happened is if it was put into the box at the factory already dented. It's sad they don't take more pride in their product.
I would have considered these to be a perfect 5 if not for the fact that they aren't an exact match for their own companion products and the fact that they sent an obviously flawed unit. I hope next time they order them they find a manufacturer who can make the entire series match each other.

Better than most, but not as great as I'd like

This is a five-star rant on all duel kitchen trash cans. Why is this the only one I could find that has vaguely a larger trash side (the side the fills up first) and slightly larger capacity overall?
This thing is amazing! Opens slick, cleans easy, quite nice to look at. But really, I'd rather have a "full sized" tall kitchen trash side and a 1/2 sized recycle bin. This one is 36L + 24L, but it is shorter, narrower, and thinner than it should be. It would be so much better if it were 50-60L with a 35-40L side hopper. End rant.
Buy this one because it's not like the others and the bigger/smaller side-by-side bin is a trend I want to see in kitchen trash receptacles.

I wasn't sure wether to buy this due to some mixed reviews but I love it! It closes flat for me. I love the separate compartments. Highly recommend!
Nice appearance
