It is smaller than I thought, but the house wren went into it right away. It has a rough finish on it. I didn't try to seal it because I read that it isn't good for birds to have paint or chemical sealers on birdhouses. I haven't tried to clean it yet because we just got it. The access seems like it will be all right. I'll see how it is when they are done with it. I will also see how waterproof it is at that time.
