I bought this stand as an upgrade for the cheaper one I had had for a few years but recently broke. This stand is definitely better quality. I used my old stand to hold my Kindle Fire tablet (9.25" diagonal) to display song lyrics and guitar chords while performing and to play songs or guitar lessons on YouTube. My old holder had a cutout in the top grip so as not to interfere with power or volume buttons, depending on the tablet. This new stand does not have that cutout, so when I put my Kindle in it, the lower-volume button gets depressed, and my tablet gets muted. I cut out a strip of the rubber with a razor blade, but I still have the same issue, unfortunately.
Would buy again. Sturdy not heavy.

Great for tablet, ipad, surface etc. adjustable and has separate phone holder included. I use it for music to have my sheet music on stage and i use it for reading at home. Works great both sitting at my desk height and standing up. My only criticism is that it does not fit in the carry bag fully assembled. The ipad holder section must be removed to fit it in the carry bag. Granted it is much smaller than a music stand and much easier to transport around.
