I have to admit that I've become so jaded that my expectations were low despite the large number of generally positive reviews for this fabric shaver. I also have to say that this product far exceeded those rock bottom expectations to the extent that I can't believe every household doesn't have one of these things, especially for the price.

When we got married, my husband had a pill and fuzz remover that just didn't work, and I foolishly just assumed that all products in that category produced similar (terrible) results. Nearly 30 years later, I am pleasantly surprised to be wrong.

First off, this fabric shaver is well made, and it's intuitive to use. There are three settings on the shield for different fabrics, or you can remove the shield all together if you want to get really close to the fabric you're dealing with. The battery compartment is secure, but not so secure that you need special tools to pry it open, and the lint compartment slides on and off easily.

You do have to check the lint compartment frequently as it fills up quickly and can prevent the blades from turning. It would also be nice if it came with some kind of tool to reach down into the lint trap to really clean it out as well as brush off the blades, but I just used the brush that came with my electric razor, and that worked pretty well.

Because I did have to stop so frequently, it took me about two hours to thoroughly remove all of the pills on two of my sweaters that had gotten to the point that I only wore them around the house, but the effort was well worth it. I was able to return both to a state that I am no longer embarrassed to be seen in public in them. Even if this little gadget dies tomorrow, it was far cheaper than buying two new sweaters, so I'm already ahead of the game.

Bought this to give it a try on our couch and it did work! Took me a little to figure out how much pressure to use but it was super simple to use and easy to clean. We have an old couch and after using this, it looks a lot nicer than it used too.

I have a nice Patagonia fleece that was only a few years old that I washed in a neighbor's apartment size washer and dryer. This caused it to get a bunch of little fuzzy balls all over, and it looked horrible! I bought this in hopes of saving my precious fleece and WOW! It did such a great job that it looks like new. Totally worth the money.

I love this thing, I recently got a few, very soft new blankets for Christmas, and one of them shed quite a bit for the first few days. I didn't notice at the time but it caused a bunch of lint to pill on the fabric of my clothes, and turn into little balls that were stuck to practically every inch of my thick spandex yoga pants. They weren't just on top of the fabric though, they were stuck INTO it. Before I had this little thing, I was trying to pull off each individual piece of lint, but they were stuck in there so tight that they couldn't be removed with a regular sticky lint roller. But when I tried this, they came off immediately! And since they were all sucked into the "fluff collector," (yes, that's what the manual calls it), I didn't have to worry about any leftover lint. It has different settings for different kinds of fabrics and/or thickness of the lint you're removing, and comes with several replacement blades that you can use if yours get dull (I definitely haven't gotten to that point).
One caution though, I would definitely encourage everyone to read the instructions. That might sound like a no-brainer, but I know people tend to look at little gadgets like this and think "oh this will be easy, I don't need to read the manual," and I'm like that too, most of the time. But with this product, I think if you hadn't read about the settings you're supposed to use and everything, it would definitely be possible to weaken the fabric if you got too close. I don't think you could actually make an outright joke in it, because there is a guard on it and other preventative measures, but you could end up with holes later on. As long as you follow their recommendations, you'll be fine, but I can see how it could happen if you got a little too gung-ho.
Anyway, this is a great product! I'd recommend it to anyone who has clothing that has developed the type of difficult to remove, tight pilling I mentioned, this makes the removal process go much faster.

So glad I saw the reviews on this item and decided to order. This is one powerful little machine, works with ease, does the job quickly and would HIGHLY recommend. I've used it on my "Doctor Lounge" leg elevator the material on that thing pills awful and glad my old little lint machine died, because this Lint Remover does a fantastic job and quickly on such a large item....it also does a nice job on my husband's compression socks that picks up lint making them look like new very quickly. JUST LOVE this contraption! Highly recommend.
