Stabilizing the TC16 canoe

My wife and I bought the TC16 canoe to use for fishing in lakes and ponds when we go camping. I've owned canoes for over 60 years and have canoed down wilderness waterways multiple times but now find those canoes too heavy to load onto the top of our truck which is why we bought this canoe. Compared with regular canoes, we found the TC16 felt tipsy when we first tried it. To stabilize the TC16, I added outriggers, which I bought on Amazon, to the canoe utilizing Scotty rod holders. As shown by the enclosed picture, the outriggers, which are removable, work great at stabilizing the canoe.
Despite repeated attempts to prevent the drain ports from leaking, I continued to get water leaking into the canoe. I've since covered the ports with black FlexTape to prevent the leakage.
