Bought these a year ago and finally used them to replace the cheap box store clips used by the roofers who replaced my roof and then reinstalled my heavy duty cables. The cables were originally held with nail-through clips which are a leak concern but are nonetheless very strong. Although I gagged on the price of the Grip Clips considering how simple they are and are made of inexpensive bent aluminum, the design is very clever and they were as good as advertised when it came to simplicity of installing them. The grip barbs are very aggressive compared to the box store stuff. I have heavy duty heat cables so I will be interested to see how well they hold up over time.

They were delivered ahead of schedule and neatly packed . All 3 boxes were in excellent condition as was the product. The clips were easy to use ( even in this cold weather ) although I had to pry open a bit , but that's o.k. . The grab and hold strength is fantastic . I had to move two of them and it was easy and didn't destroy my new shingles. Bear in mind I'm doing this in Pa. In December. I called the manufacturer for the needed amount and they were spot on. The value outweighs the cost , don't look elsewhere. These are ( in my opinion) forever clips that will stay put until another roof is needed ( 30 years from now ). Thanks for a great product !

these work very well. don't waste your money on the cheap aluminum colored smaller ones, they are junk. these are twice the thickness, have more and longer prongs to grip the shingle. I installed 50 of these on my 6 year old roof. used a small pry bar to slide under the shingle about 2" wide. I have arthritis so 2 problems needed to be addressed. 1.they can be difficult to push onto the shingle, a forked type installation tool should be an option. I used a block of wood and a dead blow hammer. 2. bending over the tab to secure the cable was somewhat difficult so I used a small channel lock pliers to bend the tab over. too pricey though, but searched and found no alternative. $100 for the cable and $90 for the clips.

I did have to pry them open alittle to get them on dimensional shingles, but seem to hold tight. Will see how they hold through the winter.
