Easy RTSP feed to view from home PC, but flaky AI human/pet detection

I've had several of these for a couple of years now. One under the front porch ceiling, one in the back yard, one on the side, and a non-pan by the garage. Overall they've been good but there is definite room for improvement.
As with most apps, it's bloated, slow to open, pushes ads for their products, and has a lot crammed in. Compared to another brand, I will say that playback of recorded clips on the memory card works pretty smoothly. And allowing using a memory card to avoid having to pay a monthly cloud storage is a essential for me. Turning cameras on and off is a multi-tap process, and easily half the time I have problems connecting to the camera when I'm out of the house (another brand of wireless camera I use has no problems on the same connection).
RTSP support is great on these. It can be enabled without sacrificing the rest of the functionality, and allows opening the video stream on any home PC almost instantly, in addition to its intended purpose of recording video to an NVR. It's literally less than a second to get the live stream (I set up some desktop shortcuts that open the stream in the VLC cross-platform video player). Another brand that I chose when I wasn't yet "wise" takes many seconds, and the RTSP support requires flashing an old unsupported version of the firmware. There are also phone apps that can open multiple RTSP streams at once, so I have one I can open quickly and get all four cameras tiled on screen for quick checking when I hear something outside. This RTSP support is probably the best feature of these cameras since it allows not having to use the app when at home. It even continues to work with no Internet (I've tested restarting a camera then disconnecting the cable modem and I can still access RTSP locally from my PC without problem).

This is a great little camera. The app guides you through the setup process and only took about 10 minutes to be up and running. Video quality is excellent. Night vision has excellent clarity. Streaming and operating from my phone is really simple. I can even talk to my family using the app. You can set up the camera to send you notifications if it picks up movement in the house with a setting for human/pet/all movement. Tracking is also incredibly accurate, but can be turned off if you choose. For storage you have two options: SD card or cloud storage (monthly fee). I use a 128 GB SD cards without issue.
I highly recommend this camera!

A couple of issues…

Perhaps I missed it somewhere in the listing but this camera does not sync with the home base 2 - home base 3 ONLY! Huge downside because this means I don't have free storage unless I use a micro usb card. I didn't think it would be too big of a deal because I have one. Unfortunately when I try to put the card in, it try's to kick sideways and when I did manage to get in correctly the one time it still wasn't recognizing that I had inserted one. It's a 32gb micro SD card that was brand new before I put it in this camera. I'm not really sure why it won't read that the SD card is in there either. Thankfully I am using this for indoors as a sort of baby monitor/pet camera (I won't mount it so I can move it around to fit my needs) and I don't necessarily NEED recording of events since it will notify it me and I can live view what's happening that caused the notification. But, I am disappointed as I expected it to sync with my home base 2 and I wouldn't need an SD card or anything and would be able to have recordings through the home base. Since it's not detrimental to me I'm not taking a star for that. The star I took is for it not reading the SD card.
It’s a good cheap option that works!
I review stuff✓ Verified Purchase•May 8, 2023
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Eufy Security S220 Indoor Cam, and I must say, it has been a pleasant addition to our home security setup. While there may be more advanced options out there, this camera does a pretty good job considering its price point.
One of the things that impressed me about the S220 is its 2K resolution. The image quality is clear and detailed, allowing me to easily identify any activity or movement within its range. Plus, the pan and tilt functionality enables me to adjust the camera's view remotely, ensuring that I don't miss a thing.
What sets this camera apart is its human and pet AI. It's surprisingly accurate in distinguishing between humans and pets, minimizing false alarms. This feature has been particularly helpful for us as pet owners, as we can confidently rely on the camera to alert us only when necessary.
The compatibility with voice assistants, including our HomeKit ecosystem, has made controlling and monitoring the camera a breeze. We can simply use voice commands to check the live feed or review recorded footage, making it incredibly convenient.
We've also found this camera to be a great solution for watching our dogs during the day. The reliable performance and easy setup allowed us to keep an eye on them while we were away, giving us peace of mind. It's been a valuable addition to our pet monitoring routine.
While it's true that there may be other cameras with more advanced features, I believe the Eufy Security S220 Indoor Cam offers a good balance of functionality and affordability. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but for its price, it delivers reliable performance and integrates seamlessly with our HomeBase 3.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a reasonably priced indoor security camera that offers decent image quality, reliable motion detection, and compatibility with voice assistants, the Eufy Security S220 Indoor Cam is worth considering. It may not be the most advanced option out there, but it gets the job done effectively and fits well within its price range.

This camera has very clear images and is super sensitive in tracking motion even in the dark. Distinguishes people from pets. Sends notifications if it detects movement. Can record everything on a not included memory card. Can almost function as a security camera. Works great over the internet. Highly recommended!
