All You Need to Know to Switch from Xfinity Norton Now That It's Discontinued
Goldengate✓ Verified Purchase•August 11, 2023
Comcast / Xfinity has found another way to say "Happy New Year," this time ending the free perk of Norton 360 with an Xfinity internet subscription. Fortunately, this package, which is currently $25 for ten devices and renews after 12 months for $25, is a great deal and provides even more functionality than the Xfinity product. I read the one star reviews and almost didn't buy this, but then I started reading 4 and 5 star reviews and pieced together how to actually install this if you are already running a version of Norton 360. I'll start with that:
1. Log in to your Norton account via a browser. If you have the Xfinity version of 360, you probably forgot that they made you set up a Norton account, but trust me, you do have one, so just click "forgot password" if you cannot remember.
2. Go to the "my subscriptions" in the top right and click, and you will see the current computers you have enrolled via Comcast. If you scroll down, you will see "Norton Security Online from Xfinity" and then you click "manage licenses" next to that.
3. You then need to delete the license for your product - click he little garbage can under "remove" license and click confirm.
4. Now buy the product here on Amazon, and you'll get a welcome email within 5 mins. Here are the instructions in that email:
Click the "Activate" button below.
Create a new NortonLifeLock account or log into your existing NortonLifeLock account in order to link your Amazon and NortonLifeLock accounts.
After linking your NortonLifeLock account, you will be redirected to the Subscriptions page on Amazon.
Click "Access Product."
5. Basically, you log into your Norton account by entering your email associated with the Norton account on the screen where it says "create new account" or "I already have an account."
This is where things went wonky and it said 'There's a problem try again later" which seemed to be a browser login / cookie issue. I just closed Chrome at this point and then logged into Norton account from my other browser, Firefox. You could also just do this in an incognito window in Chrome.
6. Now you need to uninstall Norton from your computer, and click "save settings, I am planning to reinstall later" option. It will uninstall and prompt you to reboot. Go ahead and reboot.
7. From here on out, it's pretty straightforward (famous last words). Open a browser and log into your Norton account online. You go back to "my subscriptions" and now this new Norton should be showing in your list, with 0 out of 10 licenses assigned. You then click on "download product" or something to that effect to install it on your machine. It will automatically activate as part of this process.
This product differs from the Xfinity Norton product in that it (a) has a VPN and (b) has 125 GB of Cloud backup and (c) includes dark web / identity theft monitoring.
We have several computers and the process was the same for each one. I think people get into trouble if they try to install this version without uninstalling the old version, and if they uninstall the old version BEFORE they deactivate it from the Norton "my account" area.
Hope this helps!

I use it on my many Windows and Mac computers

I got the ten license package. I have a large collection of Windows and Mac computers, in my office for home use, in my recording studio for editing and printing, and in my home theater for music and video. One Mac dual boots to Windows. I loaded this latest product on all of them. I've used Norton for years and have confidence and trust in their protection as well as their support and service. Never had any problems in over 20 years of use on many computers and laptops.
The price for 10 users is good, but subscription model with auto renewal makes it more complicated.
Barry Hayes✓ Verified Purchase•July 29, 2023
The price per user for those who have a lot of systems is worth the price.
Some may not want to have auto renewal and it takes extra steps to stop this function.
Also there are many other functions that may not be of use for many users.

I have using Norton anti-virus software for over a decade. Their products are solid and fairly easy to install and setup. The next comment more toward the company itself. My subscription was expiring and Norton wanted $150 to renew. I purchased this for about $75. About a week before my subscription had expired, Norton sent me another offer to renew for about $80. Anyway, as far as the software goes, it's a great product. I have the 10 license copy (I have a number of computers and phones) so it will be a bit more expensive, buy I recommend Norton to anyone who is not real computer savvy.
Keep it simple

I been using Norton since around 2002 and just stuck with what worked. I became a bit distressed when their business model necessitated auto renewal for installation. The auto renewals were billed at full retail price. (*OUCH*) This would inevitably involve phone calls, cancellations, and hagging, until they finally offer it at the same discounted online price, or buying a new product and doing the uninstall-reinstall (key codes and stuff). The Norton from Amazon renews at the same discounted price, (unless you choose to unsubscribe) and it integrates automaticly with your existing Norton account (if you have one)
This could be a little smoother on Windows Pcs. The old version does not automatically recognize the new subscription but if you log into your account you can assign the new license. (requires uninstall-reinstall)
