I bought this sodium hydroxide for soap making. It worked perfectly. There were zero issues that I experienced. I think I made 3 batches of soap from this one bottle, but that will all depend on your soap recipe honestly. Mine made somewhere around 18 bars or more per batch. I would definitely order this particular brand again.

This is a terrifying substance, but it produces the most excellent pretzels!! They are far superior to those made with sodium bicarbonate. Even sodium carbonate (baked sodium bicarbonate) pales in comparison. Not for the faint of heart, clumsy or the easily distracted, but if you want the best pretzels you'll ever have, don your PPE and mix a batch of this lye solution and get to dunking! Why did I give it only 4 stars? Because I'm still a bit skerd to have it in my cupboard. It has taken over1st place from the former champion ~ the nightmarish but indispensable Prague Salt.

I used this lye for soap making.
Because of its nature, I was happy to see that the lye had been delivered with an extra bag to hold it in case any spillage happened. Luckily there was no spillage, but I was still very careful and used gloves while handling. The container was sealed upon opening which was reassuring as well.
I have only used lye a handful of times, so I am not sure how many variations it comes in, but all of the crystals were uniform in size and shape which felt to be of higher quality for soap making.
It mixed perfectly in water and worked as expected.
Now I have some home made soap and I can't wait to make more!
