I kept walking into the living room to find the dog chewing on the felt tree skirt. It was literally full of bite marks. Something had to change. This looked cute online. It's actually quite fancy in person - almost too fancy, with its shiny fabric and little ropes. The plastic tubes that help it keep its shape are a little hard to handle but they do their job. The stand is a little tall, but I found I liked that because it raised and leveled those branches around the bottom that can droop. And it was much easier to vacuum around this than the felt skirt. Glad I found this.

I was a little worried because so many reviews said it was hard to put together, but I took a chance, and I'm glad I did! I watched the video in the product description about how to assemble it, and I had an easy time. I laid it down flat, put a knee on it to keep it down, and stretched the loops a little (with my hands, not a screwdriver) before sliding the tubes through. It velcros and stands up perfectly! Only took me about 5 mins. I have red, glitter poinsettia decorations for my tree, and this is going to match perfectly. I'm excited to decorate! And I'm really glad to ditch the tree skirt (which just becomes a dog bed every year"¦)

I purchased the Santa tree collar on sale for $11.99 - I feel that is a fair price for this product. I would not have paid the full asking price of over $20.

I bought it as a "throw away" just in case it looked poorly or didn't function properly since I have a new kitten (as well as dogs) and a 1 year old. I won't have to throw this away after this year though. It's decent enough.

This is not a rigid tree collar. The only thing keeping its form are 2 plastic rings.

As far as putting it together:

HINT 1 - you have 2 different size rings. Short goes through the top, long goes through the bottom. You're forming a cone shape.

HINT 2 - use a pencil or the end of an art paint brush to open the elastic loops as you insert the plastic ring. If you try to use your fingers you're going to get frustrated QUICKLY. Having 2 people would probably make this super easy, but I did it alone.

I was looking for an alternative to a tree skirt for a smaller tree that we have in our living room. This tree is small, only 6' tall from floor to the top. It has three legs that extend out to about an 18" circle. I was using a tree skirt for it but had trouble finding one that wasn't too small or too big. Plus the dog slept on it every time we left the house. I tried a metal collar thing (for the tree, not the dog) but had trouble getting size right. This was only $10 and I LOVE the vintage ornament design!
It uses plastic tubing to hold its shape and there are little elastic loop to feed it through. The large hoop is for the bottom and the smaller one for the top. That's important!!! I read from other reviews that a second pair of hands would be helpful and yes, that is 100% true!! It can be hard to wrestle it alone. That's why it gets 4 stars for easy to assemble! It will also help to use a pair of clamp pliers to hold the loops open. That made it way easier! For storage, you can disassemble the whole thing or just separate the tubing and it kind of rolls up. I got it at the end of the season so we will see how it holds ip next year after being rolled ip for the year. The cream color does show dog hair but not the makers fault that I have 2 black dogs. I below this would also work for a much larger tree that we use in another room. But that tree spins and has a light up Star Wars skirt so it's not needed there. But it would fit!! So far I am very happy with it and glad I have it a try! Now to find a matching topper"¦
