Great Value Bike But One Major Handlebar Caveat
BertSampson✓ Verified Purchase•August 18, 2023
I bought this bike in December 2015 (nearly 8 years now) and have used it on and off since, but mainly my dad, now in his old, age uses it. The main issue I had with the bike was the front wheel to handlebar connection coming loose no matter how much I tightened the bolt. There needs to be some loctite used to keep it in place and keep you safe. I can't stress this enough because I've nearly had some bad falls front the handlebars losing alignment or the handlebars went loose during a long trip causing me to take things slow out of precaution. Other than this the bike is great for casual or cruise rides. You won't go very fast but you'll be comfortable.
A minor caveat is that removing and replacing the front wheel for transportation in my car can get annoying because the fender might get shifted and I might have to realign the brake pads. I plainly prefer not to pack this bike at all because of the hassle of reassembly.
Overall the bike was a great value at $180 for black Friday in 2015! Back then I was kind of broke so it was perfect for me. If I was going to buy something similar today I would probably go for a hybrid with disc brakes and no fenders. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for better speed, brakes and ease of transport.

Beautiful and easy if you read manual

I had a 2015 mint green Schwinn Admiral and sadly you cannot find that shade of mint anymore, but this one is a suitable sub. Another review said it's "basically white" so I never bought before, but I finally decided to take a chance and it is a lighter mint, but not white. I think that reviewer probably got one from a bad paint mix batch. I also VERY delicately removed it from the box since several folks complained of paint dings. I didn't want to cause any dings myself. There were only 3 little spots that turned out to not be dings as I was able to clean them off with a Magic Eraser. Not sure I can say the brand, but you know bald guy on those products. There was also an unseen metal splinter that ended up about 1/4" into my thumb, but I survived. I did have to remove some little black fender flares because my feet (US size 7.5) hit the front one when turning. Schwinn didn't think that one through, I guess.
Some reviews mention "missing parts". There was a warning label on the box or the manual (can't recall) that warns you to check all the inner boxes for your parts. The pedals and a couple bits of hardware are in a little box. There are 2; one empty and one with your hardware.
The seat isn't super comfortable so if you are doing long rides you may want to order a bigger seat and matching 7-speed handlebar grips. Make sure the grips are "7-speed" or you won't get the shorter one that fits the right side.
Some reviews complained that the manual is not for this bike. Yes, it is. However, it is for all Schwinn hybrid models so you have to use just the sections pertaining to your part types. The handlebars are on a "quill stem" (pg 25). Brake cable are already attached so skip that section. Front wheel is "quick release" (pg 30), but fender instructions are included on pg 29. Seat is also "quick release" (pg 33). Pedals are pg 35. Super easy to put together as long as you read the manual.
I also got little LED light sets for both wheels. The battery box attaches to your spokes. Bike looks like two little Ferris Wheels going down the road. It's awesome!

Really cute bicycle

First things first; the color is a very pale mint green. It is not aqua but I don't see it as sage green. My delivery was excellent and the box not the bike were damaged. My husband who assembled it would say it was easy. He had it put together in under 2 hours and it was perfect! He trued the wheels just right.
This bicycle is the perfect size for most women. The seat is not the most comfortable so a large saddle seat would be a nice upgrade purchase. On my first ride out, the bicycle performed perfect. No problems with shifting, steering, wobbling, and it stops on a dime.
I absolutely LOVE this bicycle. I bought if for its vintage inspired looks,
Which I am very pleased with. It performs awesome for my needs.

fantastic deal from Amazon warehouse!

I would first like to point out that this bike came from the Amazon warehouse, and presented a great
bargain over a full price new bike . I ordered this bike on Jan. 8, 2023, and it came on Jan. 12th.
The box was in good shape, with only 2 small holes in the sides. Upon opening the box, I found everything
still wrapped as it was originally, and no problems were visible. When I began assembling the bike I noticed
that one of the adjustment screws on the rear brake caliper was broken away. this bike has linear pull brake
calipers. I went ahead and completed the assembly of the bike . Every thing needed to assemble the bike was in the box; no missing parts or components. there were a couple of small dings on the front fender, and a rub mark on the rear of the back fender, which will polish out. the small dents are barely visible.
I placed a call to Pacific Cycle and explained the problem with the rear brake to the agent on the phone .
this was Jan. 17. I had a replacement brake caliper by the 20th, and installed it this morning ( jan.22).
After a brief shakedown ride , I rechecked all adjustments an the bike is good to go.
The overall experience with purchasing, assembly and customer service was great !
I'm not much on the color blue but this bicycle looks great with its dark navy hue and bright fenders, and I look forward to many years of enjoyment from it. It took awhile to decide on this bike because some of the other reviews I read indicated a lot of problems with shipping damage, misaligned parts, derallier problems, etc. so I was hesitant to take this chance. As they say, " results may vary", and these were my results so far with this bike, and I hope this review will help some one else with their decision to buy one of these or not. I may up date this review after I get more mileage on this bike. EDIT: On April 11, 2023, I
took this bike for a ride on the C&O canal tow path from Sheperdstown, Wva. to Mercersville,Md. and back. This was approx. 18 mile round trip, and the bike handled it with out problem. It even got a compliment from a friendly couple who were also out for a ride! After the ride, I could understand some
other reviewers consternation about the seat, as it left me a little sore. I believe that it will soften up with
use, however. I hope this additional information helps!
