This set includes every size and type of knife that I've come to love and expect. The steel blades are perfectly shaped and appear to be of excellent steel. Time will prove the steel's hardness, but I know how to put a razor sharp edge on any blade. My expertise developed over many years.

I will be giving away some of my old blades to family and friends. These should last a long time with proper care and handling. My oldest knives are about thirty years old, and still fairly good.

I treated myself to a birthday gift, and my wife loves these too. This set has a solution for every food preparation task, including thinly sliced tomatoes.

Many knives do not have perfectly sharpened edges directly from a factory. I've had lots of practice sharpening tools. Kitchen knives, chisels, plane blades, etc. rarely impress me as delivered. Eventually every blade must be sharpened in the workshop. Again, they arrived very sharp!

Honing a blade removes a small amount of steel, so gradually, every set will be affected by a loss of metal. The device that we call a "steel" (included with this set) can only remove dents or reshape wrinkles along the edge of a blade. No honing or removal of steel is performed with a "steel". The steel is used as a daily routine, but eventually the knife edge must be "honed" to actually resharpen its edge.

Anyone that wants to improve their honing / sharpening skills can practice. However, I bought a TORMEK slow speed wet grinder for that purpose 😊, because of my woodworking hobby. Honing removes a little metal and brings the blade to polished perfection. That's difficult with traditional hand honing methods. My grandpa thought he was rather good. Now, I'm a senior citizen choosing modern tools to get perfect results in a few minutes. He would agree.

Absolutely impressed with the quality of this knife set, it went beyond my expectations! Of course I had to test out every knife in the set when they arrived so I made a video while I prepped for dinner which is posted above. However, I didn't film every knife because I tend to favor chef knives. I used to work in a gourmet kitchen at a hotel & have missed working with amazing knives like this set. As I said, the chef knife is always my go-to favorite & the one in the set does not disappoint, even the smaller one is impressive. Each knife sliced through most items with minimal effort like butter. But, the knife that surprised me the most is the "slicing knife", I used it to cut raw chicken in half (butterfly style) & was blown away with how easy it was - absolutely AMAZING! I did get video of that. 😉 Bad steak knives are a huge pet peeve of mine, I absolutely hate the ones that aren't serrated, the ones in this set are not only serrated they are superb quality cutting almost as well as a chef knife! I like how this set isn't oversaturated with a bunch of different types of knives that I'll never use & includes any type of knife I'll ever need. I did see the review with the beat up block, fortunately I received one in excellent condition. This set is not only superior quality but looks really nice sitting on my counter. I am so excited & look forward to food prepping again since my days in the hotel restaurant, I could not be happier with this set. I would recommend hand washing these as they are wood & they will last longer if you don't put them in the dishwasher or soak them. My only complaint - very tiny - is that I wish the block & knives were labeled so you could tell which knife goes into what slot on the block, but it's not a deal breaker by any means. So far these knives are great they will likely last forever and never need replacement there nice and sharp the blades are just the right thickness (Gauge) I used a food grade oil designed for treating cutting boards and what not on the handles and It brought out the beautiful color of the wood so far I've only hand washed them no rust yet and lastly the scissors are the best I've ever had in a knife set yet very user friendly they cut through paper and steak as well as trimming rose stems in a Breese.

but I am pleased with the quality. Partial tang but still sturdy and I love that they arrived so sharp and are also easy to sharpen. Replaced a set of Henckels International and feels like a step in the right direction toward getting a true high quality knife.

First off, I'm not a chef. I am a fan of a good knife though and these fit the bill.

The blade on every one if these came to me straight, clean and RAZOR sharp. I honestly thought that given the price point I was going to have sharpen every one of them to be satisfied with the edge. I was wrong. Every one of them is excellent.

I was a little turned off by the feel of the handles - the rivets and wood don't sit flush on all of them and the fit on the tang isn't perfect. Then I realized that averaged out across the cost of the set each of these knives cost $10.

Every single knife in this set is an excellent knife for $10. Very happy with the set.

Note: the block that comes with the knives has a very thin finish on it. A week after getting the set there are chips where the points of the knives have come in contact with the face when putting them away - but you're not buying this set for the block, are you?

I'll probably strip the finish and leave it bare.
