I drive about 5 miles on hard-packed shale roads to get to the highway. There are hard ruts, bumps, and washboard.
I have a Galaxy Fold 3, in a case.
The phone is bigger than the arms that hold it on the bottom and sides, but it still held the phone through all the rough road.
I have no complaints about the phone holder. The phone holder was tilted down some from where I originally had it when I first started driving, but that could be that I didn't tighten the nut enough. Once I got to the highway and re-adjusted the position, it held. If tightening the nut doesn't fix it, it's still worth having it and giving it 5 stars.

A great revision to an already great product.

I've owned 3 of these phone holders from iOttie now in 3 difference cars. This specific model is the most recent innovation of the device. Amazingly it was the cheapest on Amazon, at $20 for me when I purchased it a month ago.
It's lighter and much more refined than the older one, which I've owned multiple of. It feels higher quality and there's no play in the joints/hinges/springs/buttons. Everything moves when told, and moves with purpose. It's solid and I really appreciate this over the previous edition.
The phone cable holder is FINALLY integrated INTO THE PRODUCT. It doesn't use a silly adhesive magnet that they expect you to install on the device and your cable any longer. Just a simple rubber bushing to slot the cable into, however works best for you.
It comes with an adhesive circular base plate to stick onto your dash, which the sticky suction cup is supposed to hold onto, but the base plate actually did not work with the old hard "leather" in my 2006 focus. Instead, I put the suction cup directly onto the dash and it hasn't moved once. This is something I attempted with the older model, only for the suction cup to be too weak to hold onto the surface without the base plate installed first. I'm amazed how much nicer this is for the price and it was perfect for me.

BEST Dash Mount for our RV

I found this product reviewed on WIRED as one of the Ten Best Cell Phone Mounts. I vote it #1. I stuck this to a non-smooth dashboard surface, and it's never come loose in several months or use. I did not use the included mounting disc; I simply adhered the suction surface on the mount to the dashboard surface.
The lock and release mechanism is beyond compare, very easy to operate. You place the phone on the mount's feet, which hold it in place, and press lightly on the phone to activate the clamp. To release the phone, you squeeze the two tabs below the clamps together, and the phone is free but still supported by the feet so that it doesn't fall. Some design engineer really thought this out well.
The location of the mount it obviously a personal choice. I mounted mine on the dash-top to the left of the driver. I can see the phone clearly without distraction from driving. The mount is stable and does not shake or wobble.
You might want to consider being able to attach a charging cord from the mount location. I have a USB port close enough to connect the cord to the phone while driving. I found no need for the included magnetic cord attachment with my IPhone 14. The cord fits snugly enough without it.
I initially set up the mount with the arm extended to its maximum length to bring the screen closer to me. However, this resulted in minor shake and wobble of the phone. I found that I had excellent view of the phone's screen with the arm contracted to its minimum setting where the phone was very stable. Do make sure that you securely tighten the round locking nut that allows rotation of the mount. I discovered shortly after installing the mount that the looseness of this nut was the cause of phone wobble. This was a "user" mistake.
I am super impressed with the design and quality of this product.

Seems great! Dash plate doesn't stick

I have not done much more than set this up, but so far it seems mostly great. However the plate for mounting to the dashboard doesn't stick AT ALL. The mount fell down immediately after I set it up because the plate detached from the dashboard. The "sticky" material that is supposed to stick to the dashboard is barely even sticky to the touch. Fortunately, the suction cup is strong and was able to securely suction directly to the dashboard. Hopefully it holds long-term. The mechanism to auto-grip your phone works well and I am very happy with it. The cord clip on the back is a nice thought, but it's too out-of-the-way to be practical for regular use so I'll probably just be draping my cable over the mount between uses. If the suction cup holds long-term then I'd give this 5 stars, but since the intended mechanism for dashboard mounting is pathetically ineffective I took off a star.
Great & sturdy

Finally found one that works with my windshield and dashboard height. We bought this for a 2005 Dodge grand Caravan if you know that vehicle it's a large window and it's very slanted and the dashboard is pretty high and deep. This works really well for the width that I need for my iPhone XS Max case otterbox, it's very easy to put the phone in and remove the phone without having to remove my cover. I've had no problems with it falling off. I had no problems installing it getting it to where I wanted it and getting it together. It was all very simple and worth the $15 or $20 I paid for it.
