This review is based on "amateur" use on sidewalks by a toddler and non-artist adults. We draw doodles and lines and some letters/numbers and occasionally color in shapes.

After buying a few small packs of chalk at grocery stores and such, I realized there's got to be a better way, and of course, there are a ton of bulk packs of chalk on Amazon. After skimming through a bunch of listings, I decided to go with this one for three main reasons:
- Variety of Colors. Not trying to make museum art, but all things being equal, I was interested in more getting multiple colors, and this set delivered. (more on the colors below)
- Low unit price. At the time of my purchase, this was under 20 cents per stick and among the lowest prices-per-stick of the Prime-eligible bulk chalk options.
- Thicker packaging. Lots of reviews of this type of product talk about receiving lots of broken sticks. That's not a huge problem for us, but would be annoying. This product's image seemed to show that it is packaged in a box with corrugated cardboard on the sides -- on other products, it looked like they may have had a thinner cardboard/paper packaging. We haven't ordered the others to compare, but this one arrived with corrugated cardboard packaging. We pulled one of each color out to get started, and none of them were broken. That's a win to me!

I don't know if there are different "quality levels" of chalk. This chalk works well for us -- easy for our toddler to hold. It leaves chalk dust on your hands, and you can wipe it on your clothes and so far it seems to wash off with no problems or stains. When drawing lines it feels like it will last forever, but when you start trying to color in shapes it goes a lot faster. Still, we've had several hours of casual chalk sessions and are still using our set of the first sticks of each color.

The colors seem a little muted but are clear enough. They "pop" much more on wet pavement. The green feels kind of yellow and the red-pink-purple can get hard to tell apart. It feels like that just might be normal for chalk -- I don't know enough about chalk to have a strong opinion.

I would absolutely buy this again. I would definitely buy this for friends and family. The price is so good that it's tempting to buy more to horde for the future or to give away -- to daycare, to the library, to the neighborhood school, etc. Could I become the local chalk-provider superhero? It feels possible.

Lots of chalk

My 4 year old loves chalk and this box has a ton of different colors! He got it for his birthday in December and still has over half of them left and he uses chalk all the time!

I am often in need of sidewalk chalk to use in my work. One example of use is when I teach people to use track loaders for disaster response work. We often do an obstacle course with rubber-tracked machines on asphalt. By having a few pieces of sidewalk chalk I can easily mark off the route so that participants can see which direction to go between obstacles and where they need to go forward and backward. This box of chalk will last me a long time and is an economical solution to my need.

I'm happy with the purchase and would purchase again.
