I had a bit of a problem finding the correct size. I usually wear either an 8.5 wide or a 9 medium. My first pair (bought in a store) were 9.5 EE, and they work with some of my heavy winter socks, but not my thickest pairs. I bought a second pair (from Amazon) in 10 EE in order to accommodate those. I will admit that I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to cold feet, so my thick socks are very thick. Just factor that in when considering size.
I also bought a pair for my son through Amazon and it took us two tries to find the right size. Amazon was great about accommodating the exchange.
