This is a really gorgeous chuan and I love it! It is definitely blued wrought iron, which will rust like cast iron if not cared for. I clean it and season it with my wok and leave it sitting in the wok when I'm done using it.
My concern when buying it was that the metal handle would heat up, but this isn't the case at all"”even when I was seasoning it and heating it to very high temps directly on my burner, the handle stayed cool.
The one issue I had was that the scraping edge wasn't great for my wok at first, so I had to sand it down a bit in spots and now it works great. At the price though, this was a minor adjustment, and it's definitely still worth it. After sanding I reseasoned it and it's been perfect"”not a dot of rust.
