Discovered mine had failed by loose and floppy shift lever. Fortunately, I was on my property and only one side of the rod had dropped out. Easy to install if you use a little lube like silicone paste on the beveled side and press these in and then install the rod. Will not go in easily if you insert the rod and then try to install as an assembly. Ask me how I know. People with older trucks should check these out before you get caught out in the boonies in 4 low having lost your rod.

They worked as designed but this is a very poor design on Mopars end

Truck has 280k miles on it, pretty good run for these rubber grommets exposed in the elements. The product shipped is a Mopar part and fit perfectly. Here's to another 280k on these, but if not, the spare set is in the truck because you know they'll go out at the most inopportune time.

I don't know why I keep going through these little bushings so often. Dodge really could've come up with something better I'm sure. I am in and out of 4 wheel drive a lot living in Montana. Especially the winter months where its an absolute must. This 4 pack is well worth the money to have extras for the next time. I would hate to be out without any service having to nurse my truck to the nearest help, or stuck in some mud where I couldn't get underneath and make the shift from there. I have had to crawl under and physically shift the manual shifter, which isn't a great experience. First you need to let the exhaust cool before you can reach up high enough to get to the shift lever, then you're arms are wedged into some narrow spots.

Recommend putting the bushing in a cup of near boiling water. It will soften the bushing enough to manipulate it and the shift rod into the tight hole on the lever. I've done this repair without the hot water, and it ended with a lot of grunting, yelling and a few choice words. This time it went in really easy, without any struggle, cussing or yelling.
