Speed control needed

It works very well for wooden surfaces ( paint and wood floor coatings). It will get 5 stars from me if it has variable speeds such as festool sanders or bosch sanders .

comes with no blades incredibly expensive.
well I've been using this shaver for weeks now, and once i got it "zeroed" then added one or two clicks down it works great. It's explained in the instructions. I complained earlier about not receiving any blades with the machine. I had to order them separately. Oh well. Once I practiced on some old boards with lots of built up paint I moved to my cedar siding and SYP trim. Quickly removes all the paint it can reach, I set it very shallow and leave it there and move back and forth several times and 5 layers of old paint gone nicely. I follow up with 60 and 80 grit random orbital sander, 1/4 sheet and mouse sanders for the corners. This product is heavy and appears rugged and well made. I hit several nails the blade did chip but I have done an area 12 X 12 including deep soffits, so far the blade cuts well, I even cut the tip off my pinky (skin), I learned to shut the thing off before adjusting. I hook the thing up to my dry vac, works great. All in all a real time saver, just set the blade so it barely cuts and the wood will have minimal damage for re-sanding.

Heavy, but really works

I used this to strip the side of my house that hadn't had the paint really touched (they just painted over cracked paint and such) for 60 years and it worked very well. It is heavy, thus one has to get used to the weight and take a break occasionally (I was working on a 2 story ladder.). It's expensive and there is a learning curve. One reviewer complained about the stop in the depth adjuster, it is supposed to be there to limit how deep one can go. If you have to, you can get around it, but if it's too deep, you are going to have problems. The first one I ordered (I bought the kit) did not have the blade or the nut for holding the blade on, Amazon was very helpful and sent a new unit right away that had all the parts. That blade is expensive, but it should last a long time if one doesn't use it to take out nails (:>), which I did a couple of times, but still works great. I also used it to remove 100-year-old paint and coatings off of some very nice old wood (oak and southern pine) and it worked well for that also. BTW, that blade can hurt DAMHIKT.
pretty good!

We used it hard and it held up. DON'T HIT NAILS! every nail you hit costs about 20 buck worth of the blade / wheel. on off button sticks now and then and the height adjustment doesn't work that great after the motor got hot and distorted the housing a bit. buy it, it works well. we rode it hard and put it away wet.
