First of all the instructions are not helpful. You need to use common sense when setting this up.
All the knobs are adjustable (not stated in instructions). In order to make this work correctly, I had to install on a small side table by my bed. I watch TV on my iPad, and this works fine. I wasn't happy with mounting it on my headboard, as it didn't adjust for my liking.

Stronger and better than plastic arms

For the 11' tab S8 it's just enough to fit in the grip. The only issue is the connection at the clamp and the arm. I've noticed that it is getting looser with use and wonder if that connection may someday crack similar to the way my car mount has done which required a hose clamp to reinforce the plastic. The arm is solid and the clamp to the table is as well. The weak point is the ball connection to the grip mechanism. So far its OK but I'm thinking it will crack when I am tightening the connector since it gets loose with movement. The price was good though and this is not exclusive to this mount as all mounts with the ball joint have the same problem. They need to use metal since plastic is a poor material in this use.

Mounted this on the headboard above where I sleep. One thing I don't like is the bolt is actually quite large and it has to face the bed side (based on how the arm works) so you should be careful of it's placement and just for a while mind your head when you get in and out of bed.
Also one thing I don't like is the arm moves whenever you try to tap on the screen so the experience is a bit jarring when you're trying to interact with YouTube let's say, while watching.
Lastly one thing I did like was the system can be adjusted such that when the iPad is mounted, its weight keeps it in the viewing position and when you remove the ipad, the spring action makes it easy to push the arm away. It didn't seem like a good idea having arm just hovering over my head while I'm sleeping so I tend to remove the ipad and push the arm up.
Also with some adjustment to the knob at the base you can rotate it out of the way as well.
